  i visit this site often for various reasons, above all to see the opinions of those in regards to their present state in life in relation to past or present tendencies in thinking (religious, morals, etc).. i had not found anything constructive or worthy of adding to this conversation but for one reason or another here i am doing so now.

  i am presently an active jw member.

  i believe that our faith provides a haven or parameters from which members can significantly obtain structure and order in many different ways.

  Some fairly alarming medical news in Discovery magazine - Nov. 2010 issue:

  expose article on dangers and misrepresentations of a number of new drugs - some points made:.

  1) - according to an agency for healthcare research and quality report in 2001, more than 770,000 americans die each year from drug complications.. 2) - care patients don't need of failing to give care that is necessary accounts for an estimated 30% of the annual health care budget - more than 2.4 trillion dollars per year.. 3) - avandia, the diabetes drug made by glaxosmithkline was subject to 42 studies and a 2007 report by dr. steven nissen which showed it plainly increased chances of heart attack and death.

  the u.s. senate committee on finance says the company knew about the cardiac side effects for several years before this report was published.. 4) - in 2002 jama published results of a huge study, called the antihypertensive and lipid-lowering treatment to prevent heart attack, or allhat, which showed that inexpensive generic drugs such as diuretics were just as effective as name brand drugs for controlling blood pressure.

  It just empirically seems to me that back when I started this thread, there were constant TV ads for this or that prescription drug...but now the emphasis seems to be on TV ads for Law Firms advertising "have you or your family been injured or killed by this or that drug? - call us to set up a lawsuit".

  Do you think the WTS is about to change the doctrine about 1914? If so, what are the signs that is under way?

  what the title says.

  do you think the wts doctrine that says that christ was made king in 1914 is about to change?

  if you think that's being orchestrated and prepared, do you see signs of that already?

  Their whole authority as the ONLY channel is based on the dates being correct. The "Good News of the Kingdom" as being fulfilled for rulership of an earthly class by a priestly heavenly class of 144k+1 is ALSO linked to dates

  Not necessarily. They have dropped the notion of 1975 being a special date. They have dropped the notion of the 144,000 (and remnant thereof) being the faithful and discrete slave.

  The heavenly and earthly class is being muddied by the constant growing number of partakers - and it was never really attached to 1914. Rutherford just deemed it to be so in 1935 without any reference to some kind of prophetic numerology. He just said it was so, so it was so.

  I think that in time to come (and we may not live long enough to see it) - 1914 will be forgotten along with 1844, 1874, 1925 and 1975.

  But "the end" will still be "right around the corner".

  Commenting at the Meetings

  so i'm still going to the meetings...my spouse is still very much active...however, after i learned ttabtt...i feel like such a hypocrite in reciting (commenting) the wt writings and teachings at the meetings...in your own experience...how did you handle this situation?...and if you did comment, what did you say?...i still go out to service, however, i only use the bible and do not distribute wt literature...so far nobody has said anything lol.... .

  I quit commenting after I resigned as an elder.

  It was either say a lie, or say something that would stir up trouble.

  Of course, I pretty much quit going to the meetings about a month after I resigned, and went to my very final meeting three months later.

  Note that I am NOT saying they will ever leave behind the "we are living in the immediate time of the end" message.

  They are simply an eschatalogical religion and would be lost and meaningless without this.

  What I am saying is that 1914 will become too far back in the remote past to apply to an immediate end times doctrine after a while.

  Note that they essentially have already done this with the 1874 date - but have never retracted it. They just don't mention it any more.

  I still say that irregardless of how much they love this date out of tradition, irregardless if 607bce is hidden away, still...

  There remains the great amount of time passed by since 1914 - which was supposed to usher in the kingdom.

  Yes, in the sense of "sound" like that in air and water on earth you could say it did not exactly make a "bang".

  Back on Lawrence Krauss - one of the points he discusses as a physics error in Star Trek and Star Wars is that for dramatic effect, they occasionally depict explosions in space as transmitting a noise.

  But the strong force is a very short-range force, which implies that the carrier particles would be massive...the massless photon carries the electromagnetic force - which can be of infinite range because the carrier is massless.

  I am going to have to do some more reading on this - I have always understood the color gluons to be massive.

  Of course, there may still be some who think the neutrino is massless - but I thought recent experiments proved a tiny neutrino mass.
