We should separate religious beliefs from this issue.
This is really a human rights issue.
There are human rights for BOTH the mother and the child.
If this were a societal issue (as the Chinese have made it), the (enforced) abortion is certainly the lowest and most humanly insensative style of birth control which can be imagined.
It should also be mentioned that the widespread view of the Catholic Church - the prevention of ANY form of modern birth control - is also at some blame for the number of abortions done in modern society.
I think that all reasonable people, liberal or conservative alike (without the religious overtones) would say that the birth control pill (or other non-invasive means) is far to be preferred to the brutal practice of abortionists such as "Dr." Gosnell and his unfortunate and largely innocent victems - (both the mothers and the children).
