do you think the wts doctrine that says that christ was made king in 1914 is about to change?

if you think that's being orchestrated and prepared, do you see signs of that already?

Well, it is all a guessing game at best (for us on the outside of the secret writing committee and governing body)...
But I think it will eventually have to be dropped because it makes no sense to say the end is imminent to an event that occurred over 100 years ago.
I speculate that they will eventually (sometime after 2014) just stop mentioning this date in the literature - rather than denying it in print.
This is what seems to have been done with the long-held idea of the 7,000 year old creative days.

Eight color variations of gluon - yes. I have never heard the notion that one of them is massless...maybe you have a reference?

Strong force Gluons are massless? That was not my understanding at all...
I just looked them up in "Q is for Quantum" by John Gribben. It says:
"The best direct evidence for the existence of gluons comes from the three-jet events first observed in experiments at PETRA collider in Hamburg. In these events, an electron and a positron collide and annihilate one another, producing a quark and an antiquark our of the energy of the two original particles. Almost immediately, either the quark or the antiquark radiates a gluon. Before either of these three particles has gone more than 10-15m, they each turn into a shower of other particles, producing three JETS radiating out from the site of the positron-electron collision.
The jet of particles produced would (to me) imply a mass.
Yes, I know - we are off topic (but it is interesting).

I simply got rid of EVERYTHING JW I had way back in about 1986. I had let it sit around since I left in 1979/1980 and finally just felt like it was in the way and never going to do anyone any good.
Ironically, the JWs themselves have probably done the same thing with their own literature from the pre-1980 era. None of it is any good to them either, with the exception of the NWT itself.

One of the really interesting things in the book is that while we talk about the speed of light in terms of universal speed limit and causality, mathematically speaking, it's the speed of ANY massless particle, not just photons.
Aren't photons the only massless particles we actually have knowledge of? (excluding gravitons until they are discovered)
I like reading Lawrence Krauss - he is a good author. Two books of his for popular readers are "The physics of Star Trek" and "Beyond the physics of Star Trek". He does nothing there to win fans who are enthusiasts for UFOs or ESP - he is a very practical and straightforward thinker.
I just hope he is not becoming a "celebrity scientist" like Michio Kaku and Steven Hawking have done. He does at least one of those "science cruise boat tours" each year for Scientific American or Discover.

i have been involved in an email exchange with a jw regarding my article on noah's flood, and whether it was global.

it got me really worked up, as i find the watchtower mentality totally hypocritical.

If you point out to people like this that there simply is not enough water to cover all the planet - they will look you in the face and say that there used to be more water than there is now.
If you point out to people like this that there cannot be an eternal paradise earth, because the sun will eventually exhaust its fuel and burn out - they will look you in the face and say that Jehovah will somehow refuel the sun.
There is little point in this kind of debate - these people are totally out of touch with reality.

It is a WEIRD picture - this is a thread about it being a weird picture - and everybody agrees that the picture is weird.

Ha! - but, WHAT PROM? WHAT DEBATE TEAM? WHAT SCHOOL BAND? WHAT SPORTS ACTIVITY?
There is a social view of the home schooled. That their parents are religious nuts trying to avoid real science, critical thinking, and bad influences. People automatically make assumptions about the kids.
That is a primary reason I made the point I did about not wanting "home schooled" on my resume to get into college or get a job. Yes, you can do both from a home schooled background - but why handicap your kids in this manner when it is totally unnecessary?
