like carl olof jonsson, this is the first time i have ever written to this forum.
i have decided to do so, however, because i am saddened at what bill bowen has chosen to do in reference to ray franz.
let me say that i given bill full marks for publicizing an issue child abuse and the watchtower cover up of it and for taking a stand that has cost him a great deal personally.
I have made it a point to stay completely out of this debate, but I wanted make a quick post to avoid confusion. I noticed there is a new poster by the name of Anton. As this is my real name and I sign all of my posts with it, I just wanted to clarify that we are not the same person.

since i have stopped attending the meetings, i have had a loss of faith in god.
i consider myself an agnostic teetering on being a full blown atheist.
while in school this last semester i have been taking courses that emphasize evolution.

This is just my opinion of course, but I feel that religion is just man's interpretation of the divine. I think it is each individuals responsibility to develop a relationship with his or her creator. Reading the writings of others and their thoughts can be quite valuable, but adopting rigid dogma will remove you from your spiritual potential. It is my belief that that all the holy books written throughout history have been the creation of men who have had a political agendas. As far as I can tell, even the Bible was merely the way of the Holy Roman Empire to subjugate the savage barbarian hordes of Europe with the fear of everlasting torment if they disobeyed the law they had created. This law was encapsulated within the New Testament or Greek Scriptures. These are just my thought, and are as likely to be wrong as anyone else's.Anton

when i was still assimilated (i.e.
still in the borg, but wanting out every second of that time), there was so much emphasis put on microphone handling that it was almost unreal.
I always thought Microphone handeling was a euphamism for masturbation ... but then I have a dirty mind

ive basically kept this under wraps in so far as this board is concerned, but ive decided to tell about it because, frankly, im under stress at the moment,am posting (when i post at all) a bit strangely and i wish to explain why im hardly posting, nor am i hardly responding to emails or chat requests from my friends here.
i apologize for the latter.
in a nutshell, my wife is sick, shes been sick a year now and the situation is getting worse.
I'd like to reach out with sympathy, but after reading about 250 posts at random of RF's I'm having doubts about the level of sincerity in them. RF if what you say is true my heart goes out to you, if on the other hand what Farkel is implying is true, then not only do I not have any sympathy, but resent the attempted emotional manipulation.

i am looking for scriptures that refer to the correct way of worship (and i am sure it will not include reference to watchtower material).. i am currently studying the watchtower with some jw's in our area, but have serious reservations about their lack of communal worship that does not include complete readings from the bible.
reading a chapter and then using the watchtower to back it up instead of using the bible to backup the teachings of the watchtower).. the watchtower is not divinely inspired so how on earth am i going to get anything of value out of it.
I feel that I have run out of options. I need to find a religion that I am comfortable with and therefore need to pick each one apart.

the other night i was upset and decided to pray to god.
i was outside looking at the stars and wondering if i was talking to myself or if he is really out there somewhere.. as i prayed i didnt know who to address, i have said jehovah, jesus, father, who ever is out there please hear me.

Just wanted to say thanks for a well thought out discourse. We both stated our views, and neither of us resorted to personal attaks or name calling. I've really enjoyed your posts as well. I wish I could have more discussions like this, just an open exchanange of ideas by folks with differing thoughts. I believe this is how we learn things. If your ever in California let me know, and I'll take you up on that cup of coffee.
