  Lern,to/spel;and "punctuate"!!!!!

  maybe i'm tired but........at the risk of seeming overly critical,there have been a number of posts on this forum where the spelling and punctuation have been abysmal.i have no problem with the occasional error but the subjects here tend to be somewhat more complicated and it makes it too much of an effort if i have to keep re-reading things to figure out what the missing word was or where the sentence ends.one academic said it was no big deal as even his professors were poor spellers!well i've got news for you guys, if you don't sharpen up your grammer i'm not even going to try to give you the courtesy of figuring out what you're talking about.

  now,i'm going to have shower and go to bed and i want this thing sorted out by tomorrow.love pete.

  Personally I notice spelling and grammar errors, but that's just because I read a lot, but I also know lots of really smart people who have interesting things to say who struggle with spelling etc. I wouldn't dream of criticising their posts because they spelled a word wrong or missed a comma! And I'd hate to think they hesitated to post or felt the need to proof read what they had written before they posted. one of my best friends in the whole world has dyslexia, and is so sensitive about his spelling, but writes such amazing emails etc, that I just smile and move on and never say a word, how cruel to pick someone up on something they cant help, and maybe miss some of the most interesting words.

  To our JW friends, are we too spiritual minded for wife-swapping?

  so the other night there was a wedding shower for my jw brother-in-law and his fiance'.. it was one of those wedding showers where couples attend.

  all the guys sit in one room and watch football and complain about their wives, and all the women sit in the other room and gossip and bash their husbands.. well that is how it usually goes.

  i looked around and noticed all the husbands were hovering over the others wives and flirting and talking dirty and gossiping and brushing up against each other and so forth.

  I must say when active dubs we've often been with other couples and there's been dodgy things going on, we've played strip poker, and truth or dare quite a few drunken evenings. It was relatively harmless and everyone went to bed with their own partner I think!! But could easily have led on to other stuff. This was until one of the 'brothers' went a bit too far one evening and decided to confess and got us all into trouble...lol. Fortunately the extent of what went on wasn't disclosed. In some ways the dub lifestyle leads to such repression things like this get going very easily, like a match on super dry tinder!

  It's snowing!

  couple of inches on the ground this morning when I left at 6.45 to go to the Next sale.. yes I'm nuts, but it was SO worth it!! Especially the driving home at 11am when everyone else is queuing to get in.

  Kids are already talking about getting the sledges out!

  Where does all the money go?

  ok, so, i heard recently that the wtb&ts takes in over a billion dollars in the us alone.

  that's a lot of cash.

  it seems to me, from my limited vantage point, that the society is indeed doing the things it says it's doing with the money - support co's and do's, building kingdom halls, and so on.

  This just struck me! I always hated the begging talks, when we were remodelling our KH so much begging, asking us to search our hearts and see how much we could afford to put in etc.. And then we were loaned money from the society to pay for it which we had to pay back with interest if I recall? And of course when all the money was paid back they still owned the building as well.. that's amazing isn't it..lol.

  Freedom lover.. most of us do! They are after all our families, real and surrogate, and all the friends we've ever known.

  Today in the sales I bumped into an elder and wife I am DEARLY fond of and they asked me to go for coffee, I agreed, with inner dread because I worried they were going to start nagging me about the meetings etc, but instead we laughed and talked like old times about ones we know inthe cong and silly things. And I felt a TRUE sense of loss when I stood up, knowing these people will not continue to treat me as well when it becomes obvious I have drifted away right over the edge!

  Was slightly amused and perturbed that I was wearing a short (ish) skirt and boots, his wife was wearing a floor skimming one, as he is an elder that is paranoid about modesty, fortunately I had a VERY large sales bag to put over my knees..lol.

  I do love and miss 90% of the brothers, but also know I cant be close to them, because I couldn't help but talk about what I know..

  the kids were sleeping, and one brother came up to me "is there a microphone on thats picking up some loud noise"?..

  i said "all mikes are off except for the stage".

  he said "there's gotta be something because the noise is annoying!".

  How can I possibly not know what I'm talking about if I'm directly affect by a silly parent that would rather disturb dozens of people than sort out his/her child with a simple nudge and a stern talking to if they are being really naughty?

  Funny thing is we are in total agreement on this. But this is NOT what this thread is about, it's about the judgemental attitude of a nazi type attendant to a snoozing baby! And I'm sorry for my attitude, but you DO have to have experienced this to understand how it affects you. I used to get to the meeting absolutely desperate for some love and warmth, having spent all day dealing with two babies and a less than coping husband. Anyone who has been in this position understands, those that dont have labelled it 'estrogen' next thing we know they'll be asking me if it's time of the month...which is a classic chauvanistic reaction when a woman is putting across a valid point but clearly it must be just her hormones because she cannot possibly have thoughts and emotions that are genuine. I thought this attitude was very outdated, clearly not.

  So do you think a simple nudge or a stern talking to was what this baby needed? Or maybe the brother that complained needed a nudge and a talking to and a 'get a life' reaction..

  The thread is about lack of love at the KH and also total lack of understanding about what children need to grow and flower. Not about badly behaved children, who I think we'll all agree, need to be dealt with in whatever LOVING way the parents think is appropriate.

  I'm actually quite pleased with this, as I consider this to be just about where I'm at, and if i was to practise any religion, Buddhism appeals.. I love mediation and the whole being one with the world thing.. (course I know EXACTLY what I'm talking about! ) I really cant see myself joining an organised group any time soon.

  Are YOU a Risk Taker?

  i am, how about you or do you prefer your comfort zone?

  being a risk taker doesn't mean you have to put your life literally on the line i.e., did you ever stand up to someone in authority and give them a piece of your mind?

  what are some of the things you did that you considered risk-taking?

  Oh, and I put my hands up while on a rollercoaster once in awhile too. (But not for very long...)

  LMAO.. Now that's real risk taking, none of this namby pamby life altering, career changing stuff!
