  Did You Ever "Tell Off" An Elder or Circuit Overseer?

  i know of very few that would "dare" tell off a co but elders were different.

  having been an elder for many years, it was very easy to go back and forth with a fellow elder and basically tell him he was dumb.

  I once had a run in with an elder who was far too 'touchy feely' for my liking, always used to insist on shaking everyones hands on the way into the hall and with the sisters, it often turned into a hug. I didn't get the impression he was friendly, more he was lecherous.

  He used to make fun of the fact I wouldn't shake his hand, and eventually I told him I thought his behaviour was innapropriate, and if someone didn't feel comfortable being touched by him, it was tantamount to abuse that he kept on doing so. He took it on the chin actually and apologised, but I think most felt I'd made an issue out of nothing.

  2 years later he ran off with a 16 year old school girl from the congregation.

  things that used to bother me within the organization.. for example, the time that the organization use to.

  absorb, it seemed that i gave more than i received.

  My boss was a jerk, his boss was a jerk. I found out I was working for a company of jerks

  LMAO..

  I love these threads because it reminds me how happy I am to be out.

  I hate the way they are so NEGATIVE about people in the world. I've found many 'worldly' people to be shockingly nice, friendly, caring and loving, unlike many JWs.

  cold calling exclusion zones are springing up across the uk as householders try to deter door-to-door callers, including the latest strain of doorstep "seller" - the charity fundraiser.. the town centre has become their roaming ground, but lately, or so it seems, those insistent young fundraisers known to many as chuggers - charity muggers - have moved from high street to side street..... .

  I read this and wondered if it would affect the witnesses too. It's mainly talking about charity workers.

  funny though, since I stopped going door to door, I have become very intolerant of people cold calling me!

  I'm just so glad I dont have to do it anymore!!

  i am going to start this debate of by saying that those of us who were raised in the so called truth, and i being one of them, can only come to terms with our past by accepting that our parents infected our minds like a virus infects a computer.

  we wouldn't categorise children according to their parents' political stance, since they are too young to make up their minds about such matters.

  but they (jw) segregate them from the world.

  Yep, Jesus and I have a close personal relationship. Sometimes we just hang out and shoot hoops. I tell ya he's one good friend. It turns out we both dated the same girl in high school.

  Lol at this... I hate it when people talk about being 'close' and 'personal' with an entity that has never communicated with them, they cant see, and has no feelings for the rest of the poor suffering mankind only YOU, because you put lots of exclamation marks in your sentences!!!!! You might as well say you are close and personal with Elvis. (At least his music touched me!)

  How can you possibly have a relationship with Jesus? And this is rhetorical, because I'm sure you would have an answer, but it would not make sense to me. My close and personal relationships are with beings I can get close and personal with.

  So no religion is not for me, I cannot be swept along with emotion for a god that allows the world to be like this (if he/she is even there)

  I'm a new fader (only about 7 months out) although I have told my family I'm not going (at the moment). Rather than play the depression thing. I also raised a few questions with them. I feel they know which way my heart is now because they just never speak to me about the 'troof'. I'm sure behind closed doors there are whispers about my apostasy! I've had one elders visit. And I just told him I had to re-affirm my faith, because I had been baptised way too young and had no idea what I was getting into.

  I have been shunned by cong members, which just proves to me how little love there is. I am not DAd, not DFd, and have no visible signs of a lifestyle that would lead to that, yet they decide to do that to me off their own backs. However I really dont care, I dont want association with those people, and my former friends have proven their loyalty by cutting off association with me. I am doing it for the family.

  I can see and sometimes crave the freedom in being DAd. But that is not what I want, however if it came to a JC I would not be attending.

  Good luck, it's a long slow road, but you will probably find you will be surprised how little bother you get when you stop. I think the BOE are just too busy trying to hold it all together!

  from what it sounded like the special talk was another whose side are you on jehovah's or satans.. from the beginning the speaker said there is no new information!

  he said "if youre not for jehovah then youre for satan- case closed!".

  he also mentioned that jehovah has always had control of his creation!

  I was invited to the talk by my mother! But politely declined, and forgot all about it until I saw the post here. Sounds like every other 'special' talk we've had for the past 100 years.

  Every day I just thank my lucky stars I'm out.

  I cant tell you the answer, but notice that the higher up the ladder these positions go, the younger and prettier their wives get! It's just like the world.

  We had a DO whose wife died, and before the year was out, he was married to one 30 years younger, who worshipped the ground he walked on.

  So start 'reaching out' brothers, if you want a barbie girl!

  Is there new light on separation/divorce?

  i had a chance to thumb through the bible teach book (which was a waste of fifteen minutes of my life that i'll never get back ...) and i had a question about the section on family life.

  i believe it stated that separation was allowed in some extreme situations (not named), but that divorce was only allowed in cases of fornication..

  i was never a jw, but i'm currently watching a jw family member go through some crap in their marriage.

  Wow Blondie, thanks for that, I didn't know that article existed and I might want to make use of it myself at some point, as I am legally (but not scripturally) separated, and have a dilemma, as on the one hand I cannot admit adultery (if it should take place ) because I dont want to be DFd.. however I also dont want to make my ex have to wait until I should remarry before he is free, because it's just not fair on him and I dont know how long, if ever that will be!

  meaning that her sexual parts would atrophy and she would lose her ability to conceive

  I also have never read this! Talk about witch trials, drink this water and we'll see if you have sinned or not!

  Working with JW???

  i was wondering.... my mother and i are working together.

  we have a little daycare at home and i see her everyday.

  she and i are working really hard to try and get my jw dad to think.. and yesterday she asked him if it would still be okay for her to work with me (an apostate) if she went back to the jws again.

  Discussion of business matters with him or contact on the job might be necessary, but spiritual discussions and social fellowship would be things of the past. In that way you could demonstrate your obedience to God and have a protective barrier for yourself. Also, this might impress on him how much his sin has cost him in various ways.
