  What is your menu for tomarrow?

  for those cooking a thanksgiving meal tomarrow, what are you cooking?.

  my menu as of now is this;.

  traditional turkey.

  I think I will be trying that sour cream/garlic mashed potatoes!!! Good idea!

  Besides that, we will be having: Appetizers of bacon, baked around scallops with a breaded garlic coating. A platter with the usual (pepperoni, crackers, cheese). Turkey, spaghetti squash smothered with diced tomatoes, garlic, olive oil and onions. veggies, potatoes, gravy, rolls and a huge selection of desserts.

  Since leaving the borg I couldn't imagine not cooking Thanksgiving at home and everyone gathering around my house. Its so awesome. Im so excited. Now I have to get off this computer and go make my desserts or I will never be ready.

  Elders Visits

  one thing that i hear regularly is that once an individual is d-effed they are visited once a year by elders to see where they stand.

  in 8 years i have not had one visit, and they know where i live.

  is this how the elders are supposed to be?

  Who Will Be Celebrating Thanksgiving & XMas This Year???

  funny thing about jws----many celebrate thanksgiving but say they're only eating turkey with all the fixings by coincidence.

  god made the food to be consumed everyday.

  then you get witnesses who celebrate christmas the day before or after with all sorts of presents but they won't give it on the 25th because that day is pagan.

  We will be celebrating my thrird Thanksgiving and Christmas this year. It is so exciting and magical. I love it!

  I am sorry you have to deal with all that. Your mother doesn't sound very Christian.

  On the flip side of this story, though, I was raised in a divided household. My mother was the JW and she treated my Dad like gold. They had a pretty good marriage and though she bugged him to study and get baptised, he never did and she still loved and respected him as her husband. 36 years later and their still going strong.

  I, too, married an unbeliever and we're still together, 7 years now. For 2 of those years I went back and was reinstated, he had no problem with it. He was very supportive. I did leave again (long story) but, I think that if the two people involved in the relationship are truly meant for each other, they can make it work for them. IMHO anyway.

  19th Birthday Party

  my daughter will be turning 19 on the 24th.

  this weekend we're having a dinner party for her at indochine restaurant and then taking her guests to the movies.

  i am so pleased that i am able to do this without one iota of fear or guilt like the jws wish they could still impose on us.

  First off, Abandoned, good news, good news! Have fun!

  And Quixote, isn't it so wonderful being able to do those things for our children!! You know though, it makes me so angry and sad to watch my sons blow out their b-day candles. I'm 30 and never have done that. So I always get a tear in my eye for the years I was unable to live a normal life.

  i remember when they wouldn't give me the kingdom ministry because i wasn't an approved associate/publisher/baptised.

  i started thinking god everybody knows that i am not good enough for jehovah.

  if i had of only known then what i know now, i wouldn't have fell for it.

  When I was in my later teens, just months before high school graduation, our congregation was full of young ones graduating that year. We had 25 (!!!!!!!) regular pioneers in our hall. The meetings in the months before graduation were littered with talks where the elders would encourage (guilt trip) us teens to become regular pioneers and not pursue a worldly degree in secondary schooling.

  We all fell for it, 6 of us became pioneers after school. I occasionally think of that and remember how my pioneering was a direct result of feeling guilty if I was the only high school graduate to not become a regular pioneer.

  My new pink scarf

  here's my new pink scarf, knitted in five days.

  it's pink and long and very fluffy.

  it absorbed a lot of hyper energy, as i'm coming off a very stressful month at work.

  What faithful JW's do you pity the most?

  many of us have family in the borg, we are anxious to get them out, .

  we might be very angry with the borg.. but who among the jw do you really just pity?

  is it elders, pioneers, retired folks w/o decent retirement?.

  brother worth his weight in spirituality, but they are very outgoing- wishing to
  find a mate and have children (or work in the circuit work).

  So true! I am 30 years old and I grew up with two other witness girls. We were BEST friends, we did everything together and as we hit our 20's we were constantly at each others houses and hanging out with the cool guys from a neighboring hall. Two of us eventually married, but one girl, OMG, she's 29 and still single. Imagine being a virgin that long? But, she must feel so lonely, I feel bad for her. The funny thing is that she is so attractive and slim. We always said she could be a model. So, I never got it. Maybe she scared the brothers off.
