Is there a Ministerial Servant Qualification Change?
by Simon Templar init used to be that if an adult child (either a non-believer or disfellowshiped/disassociated) lived "under your roof" and lived by the "bible standards of the home", the father could be appointed either a ms or elder as the case may be.
of course, if the adult child was a believer and a member of the congregation, they had to be exemplary.
i overheard at the meeting yesterday, taking place in a side conversation held in the corner, that if this living condition exists, the father cannot be appointed because of the presence of the non-participating adult child in the home.

I have known in the past for people to be removed or "deleted" (stupid term) as elders due to their child being disfellowshipped yes. But I am not sure if this is in writing - check the new release ;) ( Bethel rule book) -

Hilarious Whatsapp message received - FIRST day after Big D
by cognitivedizzy ina hilarious stupid wa message is being circulated amongst jws in my area / country.. i had a hearty laugh at the ignorance and stupidity and brainwashed mentality, different people may express different emotions so you have been warned.
day one after armageddon it seems ages since we last heard the gunshots and screams, today has been really quiet.
the last few weeks have been sheer terror.

Any funny stories of when a"brother" giving a talk, said something "funny" or "questionable", and didn't even realize it?
by Dunedain inthere were always all types of speakers in the org.
myself, growing up a "witness", must have heard all types of talks, and given by all manner of speakers, especially on sundays, when almost every week we would get a "visiting" brother giving the public talk.. sometimes, you would have a "great" speaker, all fluent and animated.
other times we would get a comical speaker, one who would maybe purposelly get a few laughs outta the audience.

In my cong there was a new Nigerian elder who didn't realise that S.H.I.T was a swear word in the UK. He went on to tell an illustration about a dog eating S.H.I.T for some reason, can't remember context. It was incredible. It took a while for us to realise he really was swearing, on the platform. -

They might have been nice people? Just a thought? I think if you get stressed about fragrance, then you might want to calm down a bit! I worked with someone the other day with mental health problems who had too much aftershave on. I didn't let it take over my stress levels. Remember with fragrance you often can't smell how strong it is on yourself. Are you suggesting a form of control over people? -

I know even the borg recognized it had been misinterpreted and there was a local needs on why it wasn't an emergency kit for when Armageddon comes. That was quite funny. In all practicality it's something all community groups should do - but it was repeated a bit over and over. -

Sabin - the problem is there is victimisation is a word that most people will not understand and we need to stick to simple terminology for the purpose of those that don't know much about JW. It's fine when writing legal professional documents to use victimisation, but the general public will not understand what is meant. There are many words that we all understand in the JW or in our profession, that someone outside will not "get". Victimisation is one of them. It is not a "doing" word - more of a description of the persons experience as a result of being shunned. -
