my husband and his family have a tradition of eating chocolate gravy on biscuits????
they say it is a southern thing as their mom ate it growing up in arkansas.
sounds gross to me and i refuse to try it.
Ok, for those who want to try this:
Put 1 C sugar
3 to 4 tbl. of flour
3 tbl. powered chocolate (I use Hershey's)
1 tbl. butter
1/2 tsp vanilla
in a sauce pan and heat until mixed, slowly start adding 2 cups of milk and stir constantly until the consistency of gravy and then servce over biscuits.
Mine turned out pretty damn good!
my wife and i were talking today about how we just don't miss the meetings, the service, the association..... we miss nothing.
she's been a jw for over 25 years and i've been for more than 45 years----and once we simply stopped going, there was no sadness, no questioning our decision.
it's almost like we are carrying on as if we were never witnesses.
THANK YOU minimus, I started a similar thread a few days ago and had one person rip on me for asking why I let go and didnt miss it and others just continually DWELL. I do not miss it at all and am glad there are others like me

mrs ozzie and i have been enjoying some farewell parties this weekend and we got to thinking about those weddings at the kingdom hall.
The fact that so many songs got "nixed" at the receptions. Sure couldn't play any booty shaking tunes!!!!!!!!!!! I HATED JW receptions!!!
something i have always wondered when reading postings on various ex-jw sites is why some of us (myself included-who was a jw for 29 years) could care less about jw's or the fact i got kicked out.
the only reason i even come to these sites if it is nice to make fun of jw's along with others who get the joke.
and yet there are those of you who harp on the fact that people shun you, etc.
Yes, I have been shunned by people very close to me but my way of thinking is that THEY are the ones who should be hurting over it. I don't feel awful about it cause at least I am FREE. And again, I am not ridiculing those who make a big deal of it, I think it is just interesting how people respond to things. So I hope I do not hurt anyone's feeling or offend because that is not my intention at all.

Well shoot Mouthy, if the New Order was gonna be so much fun as to have Naked Twister than I would have to go back to being a JW to get there and that ain't gonna happen! Now you got me all depressed thinking I may never get to play again.....(sigh)

LOL Nathan! Nope, it has Hershey's cocoa, sugar, milk and flour. Some also add a bit of butter and vanilla. It is a cross between a thin sauce and a pudding and it is served over regular biscuits. I LOVE chocolate but cannot seem to convince myself to try this. As I tell my husband, "It just ain't right!" LOL

LOL mouthy!!! I didn't even KNOW about naked Twister until AFTER I was disfellowshipped. To think I coulda been in even more trouble than I already was.....
