  I also remember once, when a Bethelite (Bro.X) was visiting our cong, he brought an interested person with him. Now at the sight of this Bro.X, it appeared that this other brother was very agitated. During the meeting, edgy brother's wife was telling him to calm down. At the end of meeting, Edgy stormed out of the Hall, followed by worried wife and kids. But he hadn't left the KHall altogether yet. So we were happily chatting, going about our business, when all of a sudden, this loud roar was heard outside the Hall. Bro Edgy was sooo mad, close to hysterical. He basically shouted out for Bro X to come out of the hall cos he wanted to settle a score with him. He was so hoarse that I didn't even know who he was asking for until Bro. Edgy stormed back into the Hall and punched and kicked Bro. X!! Right in front of Bro.X's non-JW guest!! I think the guest was MORE freaked out than the rest of us. I mean, we were all shocked, but the guest was like wondering if he should call the police! Edgy was kicking and screaming as 2-3 brothers including poor wifey dragged him out of there.
  I understood that Bethelite Bro X had done Edgy wrong somehow, but I didn't dig for the details cos back then I believed in doing all things for the peace of the cong.

  Others didn't have such silly reservations however. LOL. The Pioneer Sisters News Network informed several neighbouring congs within the first 3 days of the aftermath.

  What does it mean " he cuffed Bobby ass over teakettle down the aisle" when we remove the metaphor? Did he spank Bobby? Did he hurl the boy down the aisle? ?

  Removed as a result of this incident? That's a bit harsh isn't it, I mean the elder loved kids so his action toward Bobby must've been a reflex, right? No malice intended.

  A rumour spread that Eve had Aids and was gay. When he found out about this (some of the youngsters asked him about it) he retaliated by chasing after the elders pinching their behinds.

  I think our repsonse to this question depends on individual interpretations of what "big field" means.

  If one supposed that the question was asking whether we might see the 1.3 billion Chinese converting to the JW religion, the answer is blatantly obvious. NO! That is impossible. JWs will always be the minority in ANY country, let alone the most populous in the world.

  But I interpreted that the question was asking if JW evangelism will thrive in China. And my answer to that is "Yes".

  A government's hostility to a religious sect does not necessarily kill it. JWs thrive in Singapore where they are banned. They thrived in Indonesia too (the ban was lifted not too long ago). Need I mention the countries that were formerly the USSR?

  And look at Falun Gong indeed! Have they been wiped out yet? NO! Sure you can decimate a good chunk of their members, but the greatest threat to religious zeal is not the edge of a sword, it is information. And that is another reason I am confident that China would be a good land for expansion: little is known about JWs. The same factors that drive the people to embrace Catholicism and the Protestant groups will aid the WTS in making inroads within the Chinese people.

  He sat down and started mumbling "Iiiiisaiiiahhhhhh...." whenever the speaker called out scriptures from Isaiah or other places.

  LOL That must have been spooky and hilarious at the same time, SirNose (intriguing nick btw!). Did you get to see who was seated closest to him? Any wealthy JWs in expensive suits and overpowering perfumes? I'd have paid to watch their facial expressions!

  Let's not forget that there are also a large number of Chinese students studying overseas. These are exposed to JW evangelism in their host countries, some even returning to China as baptized JWs. China may still frown on organized religion, but there are ways around that.

  The Watchtower only will grow in areas that allready has had Christian growth from other denominations. They are kind of the 'post' missionaries. They come in after the fact and convert christians to their dogma, not simply convert people to christianity.

  "Post missionaries" - That's an interesting thought, drew sagan. I've never looked at it that way before. However, I think that this does not always hold true. I've seen Chinese students (studying overseas) with no religious background whatsoever, wholeheartedly embrace JWism.

  In answer to your question, badboy, I would say "Yes". I think China has the potential to be the next big field. Did you know that work is already underway?

  I mentioned in a previous thread how I would love to strike a small blow to the underground work by exposing JW missionaries whom I personally know. Many on this board reacted very quickly to this suggestion by warning me of the repercussions for innocent JWs, which is the sole reason I haven't acted on my thoughts... yet.

  Back when you were still in the Org, have you ever seen a trouble-maker kick up a scene that kept the busybodies' jaws moving for weeks?

  I remember how once, a drunk non-JW spouse would turn up in the middle of the meeting and start demanding to see his wife. On one hand, we publishers were like a bunch of nervous rabbits. On the other, we were kinda happy to be distracted by the drunk man's antics. It was a real test of the speaker's mettle to keep talking when there was an angry man among the audience. Especially when the drunk started heading towards the stage, thinking the speaker is the guy in charge!!

  Over the years, I have seen several references in Watchtower literature that encourages JW's to cultivate the fruits of the spirit but no real instruction on how they can go about cultivating it.

  Honesty,

  I'm quite certain that there's been some cited examples of displaying fruits of the Spirit.

  e.g. Are you long-suffering enough to wait on Jehovah's Day (having witnessed the past stuff-ups by the GB)?

  Have you publishers shown kindness to the elderly by offering them transport to the hall (cos the PO's wife has just about had it with her husband taking on responsibilities that no one wants)?

  Do you display a spirit of mildness when elders make a mistake, being willing to forgive and forget ? (cos you can wait till your butt gets wrinkly and Elder Up-Himself will still believe he is Right in that dispute, thus removing the need for an apology)

  Do you love Peace or are you one of those Jezebelian sisters the Apostle John wrote about? Do you make life difficult for the brothers and forget that you are a scarf-wearing, mouth-zipping, child-bearing sister?

  I'm quite certain I've sat in a meeting where fruits of the Spirit were discussed. I distinctly remember that it was a time when you could hear the knives sharpening in between paragraph readings.
