Hi Nic,
Thanks for sharing that, please dont blame yourself, the blame lies fairly and squarely with that destructive organisation,I knew of a couple of young ones who were dissasociated as unbaptized associates in the 80s,one girl was on kidney dialasis, and had enough on her plate with her health, she passed away a couple of years ago bless her soul, but when the Watchtower had new light(we know now that this new light was the reult of legal difficulties with the policy due to law suites)her mother spoke to me and said,'Now the Elders tell me its OK for me to talk to my daughter again, they tell us to swith your emotions on and off like a tap at command.'

Me and my brother.
by nicolaou inan earlier discussion has been highlighting the differences between da'ing and df'ing.
xena said:i am sorry qadreena but i have never in the 20 some odd years i have been a jw ever heard of an unbaptised publisher being d/aed...marked as bad association yes..but d/a...no...but i guess stranger things can happen.... well that brought it all back.. actually xena the exact same thing happened to my brother in the early 80's.
he was only 14. he'd carried on associating with a friend of his who'd been disfellowshipped.

and then pull out some old quotes from old mags and confront them!hey why not make up a few pamphlets too!
yes we were just in the neighbourhood calling on you and your neighbours with some new light!

Your post reminds me of the saddest thing of all,all those folks who slaved for the Watchtower who expected to have paradise and restored youth by now,and instead of being with fellow witnesses in paradise they are all in Ji-Jirah an old folks home together with their dissapointment. -

What puzzles me is the charitable status, most UK residential care and nursing homes have no charitable status as far as I know, the only difference being that they take in residents irrespective of their religion,it seems like they are penalized for this, but anyway I know one Lady quite wealthy running such homes,I doubt very much that those who stay at the JW homes stay for free, poor JWs residents would get state aid for most or all of the fees.
So to sum it up residentual homes are big buisness over here but when Witnesses do it they get to run it as a charity. -

Phone Call From My Mother!
by Ranchette inthe last time i spoke with my mom was the middle of october.
i called her that time.. many of you are familiar with the relationship problems ive had with my parents since i quit going to meetings almost a year ago.
for those of you who arent familiar with the situation, you can do a search by clicking on the paper icon under my name to read up on whats been going on.. anyway things were getting worse and worse and nothing good was coming from our discussions or letters.. since i was the one who called her last, i decided to see how long it would take for my parents to get a hold of me the next time.. my mom even told me in the past that she wanted to limit her association with me.

Hello Raunchette
Sorry to hear of your predicament,my relatives are the same, they like to pretend to my JW relatives that everything is fine and they do not treat me differently because I am not in the JWs now, deep down in their heart they no this behaviour of shunning is wrong otherwise why try to create an illusion for the non witness relatives,on the other hand could it be a concern on missing out on an inheritance or something by not keeping the right people happy,I have found in my experience that when it comes to money Jehovahs Witnesses are often very calculated. -

A Worldwide Rally
by cornish ina rally against bullying cults.. one thing i remember reading in steve hassans book combating cult mind control is how much cults hate publicity ie having their dirty deeds out in the open.. i was thinking to myself what do people usually do to highlight some concern or make a protest, here in the uk one popular method is to do a march demonstration and hand a petition or something to the prime minister at ten downing street, would it not be great if ex members of jehovahs witnesses and sympathisers and possibly including ex members of other cults could get together and have a large rally in the nations capital,a point of contention could be destructive cults having charitable status or something but including issues like blood shunning, manipulation etc culminating in downing street, other countries could have similar simaltanious rallies in their capitals.it would probrably grab the medias attention.. are there enough of us?.
just a thought, mayby a little over the top!

They Have Left Jehovah's Service
by Defender inthis is the standard accusation placed on those that were stumbled by the countless failed date settings of the society.
it happened right after 1914, after 1925, after 1975 and is gradually happening since 1995 after the 1914 generation failed.
since 1995, every year now on average, there are close to 200,000 that are leaving the society.

Tell Old School Friends That You've Left?
by Englishman insome of the uk national newspapers have been referring to the web-site at http://friendsreunited.co.uk/, where thousands and thousands of brits have been getting back in touch with old school friends.. just out of curiosity i decided to take a peek.
well, i was stunned.
many long-forgotten class-mates had my mind leaping back to the early 60s, particularly when they mentioned the weird nicknames that we had given to our teachers.. the french master, froggy fleuriot, mousy mclaughlan with his rats teeth, bummer burrell well, i will leave that one to your imagination.

I remember a group outside the Plymouth assembly about ten years ago, they all looked so happy whilst most of the faces on the Witnesses were looking all gloomy so I couldnt help looking at these happy appostates and returning a smile, one of them said to me 'Good day to you,You know thats the first smile I have seen all day,' and guess what ,those words had quite an impact on me,he couldnt have chosen better words, because I really started to notice more than ever that the so called happy people 'Jehovahs Witnesses' were not so happy after all even at the assembly as they went about their ritualistic routine I noticed mostly fed up and gloomy faces on the witnesses.
