Obviously it looks like they did fall short of actually spelling it out in the most authoritative way, which is having it said directly and incontrovertably that "In 1975 Armageddon will begin for sure, no two ways about it." written in the WT, KM or some other book. Of course the strongest way to say it would be by having it in a study article in the WT. That is where all the official doctrines are hammered out.
They always followed whatever statement with, :of course we don't know for sure when the end will be for nobody knows the day or hour that it will come." And that is all that matters for most JWs. And that is all that a JW will see, and that is all they will say, over and over and over, 'But nody knows the day or hour, and the WT has always acknowledged that to one extent or another. It is their fail safe. Leave just enough doubt so that the average JW will actually act on the 70 or 80% sureness that they all have. The 10 or 20% that they doubt will come in handy later on when it doesn't come true. Then all they remember is that they never believed it 100% so they are not guilty of false prophecy or believing in one.

Not the best example unless you are going to follow it up with, "So that makes him a hero, like a black man in the above situation would be let's not forget. In this country Rosa Parks (and her spirit) is also regarded as a hero. The only thing negative about walking into a whites only diner would be possibly not surviving. Spoiling the whites' dinner would not be a nagative thing in that situation, it would be the mission. They built the boat and started the rocking by putting the sign up. Similarly JWs started the rocking by instituting policies that destroy families and angers the disenfranchised.
The "brothers" in the video were clearly passive agressive, taking an authoritative police-like tone with the man. This is the equivalent to challenging a man's masculinity. A woman would never understand this point. The man was incited and pushed. He has a sore wound and this brother was purposefully and willfully irritating the wound with the very same instrument of original afliction - WT authority, a total slap in the face to this attendant's own cousin. This attendant whether conscious of it or not, probably just acting as any cult member would, but with a bit more mal-intent (I think he was purposefully inciting the man, he wanted to throw him out, it was too much of a testosterone rush for him to refuse) knew exactly the tone to take to really get this guys goat.
I have been escorted off Convention premises a few times, actually kicked off by not WT people but Convention security and the police once. All the brothers will start calling the police as a block of callers with their cell phones and the police are like, WTF? What's going on down at the convention? We just got 20 calls on this guy! So they show up brandishing weapons just to find me singing Kingdom Songs.
Convention security like to keep their customers happy, and the WT is a paying customer. Convention security is always on the WTs side. Any protester must know that and must keep a low profile. It is not true that anybody can attend these events. In fact. The WT, if it didn't want to, does not have to have a 'freedom of speech area' at the convention centers. It is not a requirement for them, therefore we do not have the right to protest on Convention grounds, it is a priveledge that can be taken away if abused in the eyes of the WT.
It is soooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo hard to keep your cool in the face of EVIL THAT APPEARS AND ACTS RIGHTEOUS. That's the most maddening thing about witnesses. They are not agressive, they are PASSIVE agressive. You can be passive agressive as hell and not get arrested for it and not even appear agressive at all. Only a small percentage of the population even knows what passive agressive is and can identify it. So that makes people like this guy, who is actually being HONEST about his emotions and showing his true feelings, SEEM crazy in comparison to these sheeple.
In actuality, of couse the crazy ones are people who are in a cult and don't know it. They are so un self aware that they could easily watch this video, as some of you have, and not see the agression apparent in the attendants. These attendants are equivalent to people who participate in genocide because their government tells them to. These guys are the ones that can really hurt people if their leaders told them to, and would not feel remorse. The camera man is way too self aware to be used as a puppet by a cult. He would not be a threat to you and I in the case of state sanctioned genocide (just as one example by the way.)
I applaud this man's courage. I respect him 100 million times more than all the "armchair apostates" and do-nothings here on this board. -

I'm going to waste my one post a day allowed me by Simon to say I hate Dave Mathews more than almost any other musician alive or dead. Other than having an amazing drummer, Carter Buford, I hate his pretentious made-up voice/singing style. Furthermore he is along side Kenny G, Yanni, Jouney and Celine Dion in terms of defing one as a passe' yuppie that turns anything cool into instantly not cool with their liking of a thing, as pretentious as that might seem. He is luke warm and makes me want to puke. Then, if that wasn't bad enough, every other male singer out there these days (still 15 yrs after the fact!) is imitating Dave Matthews, most notably Cold Play, who you can add to the above list.

Ships, glad to have you back! But, as usual I disagree with you. I say lets start lopping their heads off right now!
Unfortunately, even though I have been a liberal and peace activist for many years, I am slowly realizing that being a Dalai Lama will only get you what Dalai Lama has gotten. Kicked out of his country never to return and lots of pain and death for his people.
Therefore,I hope I am wrong about this, but... no I can't say it. You are right Ships, it's not quite time yet. After all, there are other places on the planet that are worse off than America obviously. Yes, we are all just drones of the ultra rich, but right now they are at war with other countries, especially third world countries. But, just in case things start progressing way too fast and they start asking us to implant RFIDs in our bodies, we all better get ready by taking advantage of our right to bear arms. At least we can take a few out before we take ourselves out.
The other option is to abandon ship and get off the grid by living in the Wilderness beyond the tentacles of the government. But with all their satellite tracking systems and heat seeking devices, whatever, they'll be driving us below earth into the caves-all who oppose the will of the rich.
The future is not bright. It's either live under the tyranny of man or the tyranny of god (you know, in the new system, Valhalla, utopia, Eldorado or Shangri-la or whatever the case may be).
Can anyone else think of a better possible future? I would love to know someone else's best case scenario. -

The right's obsession with gays

i occassionally go to a news web site called world net daily, (www.worldnetdaily.com) which is a religious conservative news web site.
nearly every day they have articles on gays and gay issues (of course, always negative coverage).

There is a reason why it is called "Homophobia." Hatred of homosexuality is based on the fear (based on the myth) that if you condone it you may become one. No doubt the taboo only came into existence because tribes didn't know what to make of members that didn't contribute to the growth of the tribe. Evolutionarily speaking, it would not be good for the species if everyone was gay. This of course does not make it morally wrong. But if your sole concern is the continuance or survival of the tribe, it's easy to see why the tribe leaders would be concerned with members that are not producing offspring and have no interest in doing so.
Fast forward to 21st century, and presto! We now have a universal consciousness that allows us to have other goals not related to simply making more humans. In this day and age it just does not serve any purpose to oppose or interfere with homosexuality, UNLESS... you are a crazy religious person who subscribes to a Jewish moral code 2000 years old.
Last I checked, we are not all Jews (unless you are a Mormon who believes that EVERYONE is a Jew, and blacks are cursed with dark skin but are still Jews). Why does the majority of the planet subscribe to Jewish law if they are not Jews? The Bible is a Jewish book, written by and for Jews. It is culturally specific, it does not represent all peoples. So why are so many non-Jews following a Jewish ban on homosexuality? Other nations and peoples in ancient times were tolerant of homosexuality. Most cultures in ancient times did not have laws or rules against homosexuality. Many royal families had accepted members who were gay. The Jews did not tolerate homosexuality. They killed them.
I think it's time to develop a MODERN moral code that is not ethnocentirc like the Bible. If I think that is going to happen I have another thing coming to me don't I? Actually the way things are going it would be more likely to expect the genocide of all homosexuals (and all non-Christians too of course.)
