Last Days by Carl O. Jonnson
by concerned x ini have just finished reading the book by carl olof jonnson about the subject of the last days.
a very interesting and enlightening book.
i noticed though that there was no discussion concerning the preaching of god's kingdom as a sign of the "time of the end".

A time for war at the family reunion-this apostate don't take crap!
by dawg ini just finished another of my famous letters i send to many of my family members... i've been told that i shouldn't come to the family reunion becasue i'm an apostate.
in my letter i stated that i in fact am going to be there stupid watchtower quotes in hand.
the first family member that shuns me will hear me read off every stupid statement that they've ever made... i said that i'm also bringing my bible and that i want someone in the family to show me in it where it states that i don't have the right to question the dictates of men and by my so doing i should be shunned!.

Maybe you want to take up calling the society with me. I hope the 'in your face ' approach works for you. It backfired on me and I lost a lot of ground with my family. So be careful. Don't burn any bridges. I know they already burned their bridges with you, but still, it could get worse.

Unfortunately, the WT will always exist. People just aren't into making waves and questioning things. They want someone else to figure things out for them. They have a "just tell me where to sign" attitude. It is the rare individual who overcomes, what James Marsha calls foreclosure in his 4stage theory of belief. After foreclosure comes the necessary but oh so uncomfortable, disequilibration where one feels lost and directionless, and if they make it through that stage they come to "self actualization." I might be mixing my theorists a bit. I think self actualization was actually Maslow's hierarchy of needs, but you get the gist of it. Without that all important wrestling with one's self in confusion and doubt, there will never be real advancement in one's belief system.

Isn't it painfully obvious the types of arguments presented by Athiests are cool and well thought out and devoid of emotion. Then this God-freak logs on quoting scripture, but yet fails to even have an argument. He comes on here and just says "You all are foolish cuz da Bible told me so." Let that ignorant hick stand to represent all who believe in God. Tey are all guilty of the same poor scholarship and voodoo.

When Your Beliefs Are Challenged, How Do You React?
by The wanderer in<!-- .style1 { font-family: arial; font-size: 18px; color: #0000cc; } .style2 { font-family: verdana, arial, sans-serif; font-size: 12px; } .style3 {font-family: verdana, arial, sans-serif; font-size: 12px; font-style: italic; } .style4 {color: #000000} --> when your beliefs are challenged, how do you react?when individuals question or challenge you about your beliefs, how do you react?
as a jehovahs witness, many individuals became touchy when questions directed .
toward the watchtower society did not fit the popular conception, thought or ideal.

Beliefs are one thing you should keep emotions out of. Don't form your identity around your beliefs, that would be stupid. 1ust wake up every day and be convinced by things that are convincing. As new information is gathered, YOUR BELIEFS SHOULD CHANGE ON A DAILY BASIS. Don't hold on to any beliefs. Just let them go. Extraordinary claims require extraordinary evidence. It's as simple as that. So when someone challenges your beliefs you should thank them for helping you get rid of wrong beiefs.

A MORAL SOCIETY WITHOUT GOD OR RELIGION
by fifi40 inreligion has taught that without a belief in god and in absolute standards there is no genuine moral conduct.
but for many alive today who do not hold a belief in god, is a moral and good life possible?.
not to be confused with sin, which is essentially a religous idea defined as disobedience to god, morality concerns itself with observed consequences, so a wrong act can be determined by the effect or harm it causes to others.. for example religion teaches that in the eyes of god homosexuality is wrong.

Socrates proved that there is no link between God and morality thousands of years ago. There is a great book by Christopher Hitchins called "god is not great" that is a really great read on the subject.

I used to go to the bathroom alot...did you?
by Dragonlady76 ingrowing up, i hated sitting through the borefest meetings with a passion, to complicate matters i have add and could not sit still during the meetings, so i used to make excuses about having to go to the bathroom constantly, this way i could get up and move around and tune out the meeting for a few minutes.. sometimes i wished that i had a baby, since the sisters got their own nursing room during assemblies, and in the kingdumb hall they could take the babies to the bathroom, there they could hang out for a bit.. what did you do to escape?.

Bathroom, walk the parking lot, walk the neighborhood, go to my car and act like I'm getting something, feign a coughing fit, leave at halftime to get a bite to eat. Sometimes I would invite someone to go with me, it was always a good memory of having dirty fun.
