so then the phone gets passed to me.. and my husband is of course out of town for this.

i get asked point blank if we're witnesses anymore.. and i said "no we're not".

Used to. Got burned too many times. The first words look interesting and thought provoking, but when you open them they are usually a dumb and inain waste of time. I sincerely hope that you never have to expeience the cult aspects of the WT. Apparently, you just haven't been burned yet, so you just can't understand why people say it is a cult. Many people are born and die in a cult and never have any problems and are perfectly happy all their lives.

But, what you say about how "normal" JWs are (fasion conscience teen, little old lady, happy Minestreial servant) can be said about any cult. I know a scientologist who is the most normal guy in the world. In fact I didn't even know he was a scientologist for years! He never talks about it. He's just a normal guy. An old room mate of mine was a member of a Japanese cult infamous for recommending violent response aganst ex-members (drawing a blank on the name but they are discussed at freedom of mind.) There was simply nothing strange about her aside from her daily chanting which I joined in on often and I really enjoyed. I actually miss hearing her chanting in the mornings, it was like beautiful singing.

To expect that cult members take on some kind of zombie persona is to completely miss the point of what a cult is. You have been on this site for some time and have plenty of information that should and probably is causing much cognitive dissonance in your mind. But you are quite adept at neutralizing all dissenting information. I am actually impressed with how you calmly shoot down anything that smacks of criticism or accuses JWs of being a mind control cult.

Or, is it that you just have never fully comprehended what a cult is? You would probably benefit from studying OTHER cults, because as long as the subject at hand is JWs, frankly, you just are not going to see it... ever.

The reason why I believe that you just are not capable of detecting cult behavior in JWs is because you are, at least mentally, still a cult member. As long as you are an affected cult member, you are still intellectually captive, blinded, and incapable of seeing cult phenomena. In fact, you have already shut down while reading this sentence, and have gone into defense mode. This sentence is currently bouncing right off of your forehead. It is not getting through. From this point on, I am no longer talking to Renaiia, but I am talking to a cult member. And as we know, cult members do not know they are cult members.

So, this post, since it can not be appreciated by Renaiia, hopefully will help someone else. It will have no effect on you whatsoever. Nothing, I mean nothing, will ever convince you you are a cult member. Nothing ever convinces any cult member. They have to experience an awakening, actually losing some of their cult personality, before they can entertain the possibility that they are a cult member.

i hope you stay on this board though. I think it is healthy for the board to have JW defenders. after all, it would be kind of boring to have everyone agree with everyone else. I am curious though about why you are here. Maybe of I read some of your other posts I might get a picture. But, unerstand that it is pretty frustrating to read your posts because if you are right about JWs just being another religion, that kind of makes myself and others here who have had their lives ruined by the cult look like crazies that just cpuldn't get along with their normal religion and normal church members. If you are right, and JWs are just normal people in a normal religion, that even makes the verty existence of this site seem silly.

Think about that.

Sorry to hear that dude. But isn't she going to get in trouble for talking to you? How is that going to work. I hope it turns out ok in the end. Maybe it is her way of telling you she wants you to take her out more and shower her with gifts. It's time to institute a mother son sunday brunch tradition at IHOP or something!

Can you expect to be able to prove something spiritual exists with physical evidence? I don't know, and neither do you. But on the other hand, why not? Can you prove that bopplewobbles don't exist? Bopplewobbles are not physical. They require a separate sense, similar to spiritual sense, to sense them. You need Bopplewobble senses to sense Bopplewobbles. Do you have them? That's a shame if you don't, because your salvation depends on it.

Do you demand the same evidence for say, Columbus? If someone were to ask me to worship Columbus, then yes. Do I believe 100% that Columbus existed as I have never met him? NO. I would put my belief in the historical Columbus to be pretty high though because I have no real warrant to believe that there is a conspiracy afoot about him. I believe in Columbus with about 85 to 90% sureness. If I were to actually hold his letters in my hand and become a real expert in all things Columbus, that number might go up. But I am not really concerned with whether Columbus existed or not, because he is not a religious figure, and he never asked me to do a damn thing. So, who cares.

Can I prove God does not exist? No. Can you prove Bopplewobbles don't exist? No.

Can you prove God exists? Sure, there are many ways we could do that, but they al involve physical senses. As long as god refuses to be sensed by the senses we actually have, all 5 of them, it will not be possible to prove his existence, as far as I know. Maybe there is a way, but other than actual experience of a real phenomenon, I can only imagine. Reading a book will never do the job.

It is only speculation and a line of reasoning. Evidence would have to be some ancient manuscript of the time actually SAYING "YHWH was in the New Testament. I am not saying that it is not REASONABLE to think that YHWH might have been in the NT. But, evidence? There is none. No hard copies with YHWH have ever existed as far as we know now, end of story. They can theorize, reason all they want, but until the produce an actual copy with YHWH written in plain sight, it is just speculation to say otherwise.

A line of reasoning does not and can never justify actually writing in a word that is not there in the manuscript.

Why can't we:

1. Concentrate on Bldg. 7? This is the topic of this thread. If you want to bring up government and theories, just start a new thread already!

2. Answer some of Shawn's questions? Or tell him why they are bad questions? Or admit that you know the answer to them but aren't emotionally ready to talk about it? Or SOMETHING? Please if you are going to ignore the questions as if they are so stupid they are not worth it, again, just start a new thread and be done with it.

No one dares answer my questions because the answers are obvious.

Thank you to the steel worker for his comments. I think he answered some of my questions indirectly.

I suggest we all get some education in high rises and engineering. I know I am. I'm tired of being told I don't know sh*t about it, by other people who don't know sh*t about it, so I'm just going to educate myself. Matbe I'm totally mistaken. I could be wrong about everything. But imagine if the whole nation banded together and studied engineering. If 90% of the population had the equivalent of say, a 2 year degree in engineering (which I know isn't much), what would the nation think about bldg. 7? That's not an answerable question of course, just speculation.

As in the title of this thread, the original poster admits that bldg 7 is a MYSTERY. Why would a natural occurrence be a mystery? If it followed the known rules of the universe, nature, logic, gravity for christ's sake, would it be a mystery? No. It is because it denies all logic, science and natural laws that it is a mystery. What happened to bldg 7... (mind you, I am not commenting on the whole of the 9/11 conspiracy theory, I am exclusively commenting on bldg 7s fall, not whether or not it is possible for 5,000, 10,000 people to band together in a secret conspiracy) ...was not natural. Was it impossible that it fell naturally right in on itself? No, i'm not saying that it was either. What I am saying is that it denies KNOWN logic, and natural laws.

Was it demolitioned? It sure looks like it, is all I can say, and NOONE can possibly deny that statement. NOONE. I don't even think anyone has denied that it LOOKS like a flawless demolition. Not JUST a demolition: a typical, classic and FLAWLESS demolition. Whoever demo'd it (if someone did) did not even attempt to make it not look like a demolition! Whoever did it (if someone did) WANTED us to notice that it looked an awful lot like a demolition. Now THAT is a mystery!
