Every year I do a motorcycle ride up to Monterrey for a race that goes on up there.

Last year my friend and I instituted a tradition of visiting one California weirdo on the way. - The first year we did Neverland Ranch. This year we tried to get an audience with Octomom. :) It didnt work, but at least we got some pictures in front of her house.

Just by coincidence the time ended up working out with his funeral and we HAD to stop by Neverland again this year and see what it was all about.

I ended up buying one of the shirts that the hot chick was selling (see picture)(EDIT - I guess I cant post a pic here, but the shirt says "The King Lives On in Our Hearts").

Actually she said I had to buy one because Id taken the picture. LOL - I explained there her moral compass was pretty skewed if she was hocking t-shirts in front of a dead guys house and telling me what right and wrong was, but anyway..

If he's still alive, I want my 10 bucks back.

Cola at the District Convention

remember some of the garbage served at the district conventions?.

i was at the dollar store today and noticed they started carrying "shasta" cola.. i started laughing because they used to serve that skunk water at the district conventions when i was a kid.. they always brought in the cheapest, nastiest soda they could buy.. one year we had something called vess cola - that was actually worse than the shasta!

then, they ran out on sunday and had to buy pepsi from the local distributor - we were all rejoicing!!.

Does this bring back the memories.

I remember the shasta and how it was NEVER cold. I can still feel that cola eating away at my teeth right now.

THE OJ!!! - It was always frozen solid when you first got it, you had to wrap it up with paper towels so the condensation didnt soak everything around it while it was melting and then ultimately you'd end up sucking down the concentrated part of the juice leaving a bitter orange slushy for later.

Anyone remember the "hoagies"?- That was my staple assembly food for years.

Ouija Board Hysteria

i always wondered why jw's were always so afraid of ouija(pronounced as "wee-yaw" not "wee-gee") boards.

does anyone have any speculation about who started these jw myths?.

anyone who has actually tried the board and would like to give their opinions are welcome.

I Am Legend JW email

so my sister-in-law, who is a pretty hardcore jw, showed me an email that looked like it had been passed around quite a bit, so i figured someone on here had probably seen it.

supposedley it's a picture from the movie "i am legend" where will smith is walking through new york and all the buildings in the background are in ruins except for the bethel building, which stands out, undamaged and clean.

i watched the movie and don't remember seeing anything like that so i just figured that some jw photoshopped it and sent it out to the jw community to show that the bethel building is protected by god even in a post apocaliptical world run over with zombie vampires.

HAH! I saw that movie over the weekend and picked out the WT building when it flashed past.

I almost turned to the GF and told her that building was already full of zombies, but she just rolls her eyes now when I start bashing the god stuff, so I said nothing.

China selling cardboard as a snack!!!

china is selling hunks of cardboard off the street, seasoned with msg, as a snack!

this might be over in beijing but isn't anyone worried about what the heck is still getting into this country or if any of the 'snacks' we've aready eaten have been nothing but some fibre scraped off the sidewalk, slipped into plastic bags and sold as 'tasty treats'???

Nothing new, people buy here buy something called ricecakes all the time and no one says anything about them tasting like cardboard! drink coasters you can eat..

Too true. I always wondered if those were just packing material and glue.

Was Jesus a Buddist?

i started investigating this issue a few months back after seeing a documentary that intrigued me.

some of you may disagree with my findings and that is ok, but hopefully we can have a constructive discussion and hear both sides of the arguments.

i personally was deeply impressed, to say the least, by the apparent cogency and deep correlations of evidentiary materials that survived to this day, which supports this thesis.. there is so much more that can be or should be said here but i will try to keep this text as short as possible so as to keep people interested enough to read it.. buddhism appeared some 500 years before jesus arrival.

I swear I love this board, I was just thinking about this yesterday.

I starting seeing someone who is buddist just last week, started reading the dhammapada(sp?) and couldnt help but notice how many of the... well whatever you call their verses, had some sort of corresponding thought in the bible. Really to the point of them being basically the same thought.
