52What has this board given to you?
by Crumpet inhaving cooled down a bit in the garden i got to thinking about what this board has given me and wondered what anyone else feels they have gained from it.. for me its been invaluable and even life changing:.
1) freedom from the brainwashing - when i came here i had already read ray franz's books and still believed it jws had the truth - hat i was basically worthless and that i would die at armageddon.
the reasoned conversations and help of the posters from all over the world has enabled me to have freedom of thought - something i didnt even know i didnt have until i spent time here.. 2) friends who empathise and know from an experience what i have been through in a way outsiders can never possiby understand.. 3) entertainment - unbelievable laughs and moments of humour that have cheered me up so many times.. 4) association - via the aposta bbqs and telephone chats i can now have so i don't feel so isolated and to some extent alleviates the awful pain of separation from my loved family.. 5) information - from this board and posters here i have found out things that were my right to know but would never have learnt otherwise - my sisters marriage, my aunts tragic death.. 6) reunions - i have now met at least one person who knows me from my childhood and has grown into a man of such kindness and patience that i would have missed out on completely had he not been here and been kind enough to hold my hand - even when i've been an irritating totured little idiot!.

Computer problems: Jittering MP3s
by Nosferatu ini'm hoping someone can help me with this problem.. i just got a "new" computer at work, and it's a hunk of shit.
it's running winxp pro (the word "pro" is questionable imo).
i listen to mp3 cds at work, and i've never had a problem with winnt or win98.

My father told me the only reason he got baptized was to

for example: bethel layoffs of older folks, always asking for money like the catholic church.
he said he did not fully agree with 1914 and going to 5 meetings and seeing the pioneers waste their life out in the territory.

he said that the biggest two reasons he thought bethel were cutting back, was automation and a massive decline in contributions.
looks like you're right metatron about the contribution aspect being their achilles heel.

Lack of oversight is the primary cause for the layoffs. But indubitably, they were seeing many older bethelites who where always sick or not as productive. Thus, they brought this problem upon themselves for thinking that the end was near and thus not having to worry about older bethelites.This is 6 years in the making ...
Bethel related costs savings since 2000-2001:
- The menu was combined for all 3 complexes, thus saving money.
- New opportunity for Bethelites to go Gilead with ought leaving Bethel. This so called "provision" of the Governing Body" was really a way of telling the Bethelites, a hmm, you are not needed here. Here is a free ticket out.
- New opportunity for Bethelites to go to MTS school with ought leaving Bethel. Same as above ... "provision"
- Bethel departments were reorganized to cut personnel and costs.
- Bethel review of bethelites sick days. For brothers: 12 days was alloted per year. For sisters: 24 days was alloted per year. My memory may be failing on these figures.
- New Bethelites are not being accepted as permanent workers. They are year to year. Thus, they can't complain when they are asked to leave since they signed on as year to year.
- Many Bethel computer applications were eliminated and replaced by SAP R/3 costings millions to implement but thinking that they would be saving in the long run.
- New Presses that could produce more with little maintenance (personnel).
- Outsource bound volumes
- Smaller calendars
- Elimation of hard covers
- High medical coverage for elderly bethelites who were hospitilized outside of Bethel.
- Eliminate video/tape duplication department. (can someone confirm this?)
- Others???
Come the year 2006. End result? Layoffs. The handwriting was on the wall in the year 2000.
So, the real reason for Bethel layoffs is twofold.
1) Inadequate supervision of the widows mite for decades.
2) Not realizing that the end would was not as close thus having abundance of eldery bethelites who are now limited.
The reason the WT gives?
1) The need is great in the field.
Would Jehovah permit millions of dollars to be wasted? You be the judge.

Bethel layoffs are due to lack of personnel oversight.
This all started when the GB created the branch committee. The GB assigned them the task of cutting costs. It was revealed that there were too many workers, too much money being wasted everywhere.
There would be no layoffs if the Org. was on top of things.

He said he did not fully agree with 1914 and going to 5 meetings and seeing the pioneers waste their life out in the territory. I agreed. In the end, I told him that what was conversed about stays in room (and JWD) because if our new beliefs are found out than we would be disfellowshipped.
During an interview in a meeting, a brother said that Jehovah helped him with his finances. But in listening the fine print it was the bank who gave him a loan. My dad and I smirked out loud.
