Nothing in Reasoning book about Disfellowshipping

i had a talk with my father last night about the practice of disfellowshipping.my father is an active jw with privileges in the local hall.he doesn't seem in total agreement with the shunning practice of the wts,and he brought out the example of the prodigal son.we had a good discussion and i'm going to research it some more through the chapter on the misuse of disfellowshipping in the book in search of christian freedom.. anyways,i thought i'd look it up in the reasoning book to see what the wts reasoning on disfellowshipping was.it turns out it's not in the table of contents or in the index.i thought this odd;how would one reason on this with a householder who asks about it?

why is there nothing in the reasoning book on a subject every jw says is scriptural?.

Goldminer! My brother was basically "disfellowshipped" for no apparent reason. The lack of love that the Society showed him was an "eye-opener for me! They never called on him, or checked on how he was doing or anything! I still can't believe it.

Jesus taught us to love each other- when one makes a mistake doesn't make sense that we should love them even more and forgive them!

The apostle Paul talks about this in Corinthians. There are certain cases where a person is to be "given up to Satan" so that they will hopefully repent. Paul says.. "to save their souls." What Paul meant was that-if- they repented they were to be allowed to join in! My experience is that the Society shuns them completely! This is wrong! Most people that are disfellowshipped get completely discouraged and turn away even more! Just my thoughts.... Biddie

Tophat-

That's a deep question. I would have to trust the fact that we don't know everything. God does.

So I would like to believe that those that haven't had that chance- ie, a baby or someone who died before doing so, would be "covered". I believe there is scripture that backs this up, but I can't remember where it is... That being said- Don't you believe that God knows the hearts of those people? And being all powerful such as He is- take care of them? Biddie

Happy Man-

I'm truly sorry that you still believe the things that you've been told about Hell. You have misunderstood my meaning. Hell is real and one of the many lies that is behind the JW's is that a loving God wouldn't send anyone there if he is a "loving God". That is not the point... People choose to get closer to God or not, and if not then you don't "die" as the JW's say... We are all eternal beings! Do you want to spend eternity away from him? I don't!

Anyway- I have to tell you that I can barely understand your mail, I'm sorry that you're lost in your ideology.

I can only pray that someday you will realize that which you don't understand...

Hi ES- The only thing I'm looking for is to talk to others that were/had the same difficulties I had with the JWS and found their way dispite the sad, pathetic views that they share... Biddie

JH- Yes I've felt like that too. But- you can't let your feelings be the gauge for God's love. Remember He Loves you un-conditionally- Sins and all! Our feelings can really get in the way! We don't always Feel Like God is with us- that's the point- It is through faith that we go on day after day! Biddie

Mouthy- and I can be too! don't beat yer- self up over the past! You know the LORD loves you!

I used to preach to everyone - And I can only hope that they didn't listen to a fool- like I was....

My Dad started bringing me and my brothers to the Kingdom Hall when I was just a baby, so I bought everything they taught me.... That's why I say I was "brainwashed". I wanted to please my Father and I really did have a love for God. I called on Jehovah all the time... It took many arguments and lots of prayer to bring me to
Christ! My poor wife! She started to leave some pretty great books out so I would read them- And I did when she wasn't looking! Anyway Praise Jesus that He found us and took us away from all the lies!
