  I just got hold of the WTS Aust branch 2005 Financial Report

  as mentioned in another thread, the watchtower bible & tract society of australia is refusing to give me my personal records, though i believe they are supposed to under the aust privacy act.

  they claim to not be under the legislation, which exempts businesses with less than 3 million turnover.

  anyway, i purchased their financial report that is lodged with asic to find out what the turnover is ($16million).

  Thanks jgnat...How depressing. On that basis JWD could be registered as a charity.

  In summary again, the WTS in Australia had over $16 million in revenue last year and devoted only $1,391 of it to humanitarian relief work. I'd bet that not one cent of that went to any organization or charity or person outside of the WTS............And they still get to be registered as a charity.

  Other point..As shown by others earlier, the $30 million assets do not include all the KH real estate which has been hidden away elsewhere, impossible to find.

  Yet they maintain that they are still a "small business" (see another post elsewhere) and don't even have to pay GST.

  So much for rendering unto Caesar. They've got some good JW trained lawyers working there.

  With all that money guess how much went to charity work?

  "Shepherding (hospital information, legal support, humanitarian relief work)" $1,391

  It appears the Aust branch received charity status in 2001, so now is tax exempt as a charitable entity.

  There must be a minimum percentage they must give to charity in order to qualify as a "charitable organization". If you can't afford to sue them, at least report the anomaly to the treasury department or whatever office oversees this in Australia.

  remember all the talks from the platform that dealt with gossip or mumuring??

  in my old congregation....in just one year....one couple who was close to another couple and had been spending lots of quality time together decided to expand their horizons and partner swap !!!

  one spouse in each couple was an elder's kid !!!

  I love receiving Nigerian email scams. They are so much fun to reply to.

  Rather than send a Nigerian lady with a lazy $25 million my bank account details I instead proposed marriage to her. But when she moved to Australia she would have to wear a shirt if we dined out. Can't have her tits dangling in the soup. It actually got a bit worse but I'll spare you.

  I guess that she's still thinking about it.

  my jw family, with whom i no longer attempt any sort of contact, lives about 20 miles away and have their own little riverfront "compound" of sorts - several adjoining properties owned almost exclusively by jws, with some rentals to various "interested ones.

  " i think the renters usually move away when they become disinterested and none have fully converted to the jws yet, lol!

  i guess spending a year or so around my jw family innoculates them with some sort of cult immunity.

  No one is responding Madame Q.. So I'll put in my two bob's worth.

  I reckon the bumper sticker was over the top if you really wanted to achieve healing.

  Personal experience has proved to me that setting a non-aggresive example gets better results.

  But then again, I probably don't fully appreciate your circumstances.

  if disfellowshipping is a biblical practice, why didn't jesus do it?

  there is no record of him doing it or even mentioning doing anything remotely like that.

  in fact, it would seem to me if that practice was set in stone back then during his time, wouldn't he have taken some similar action against judas?
