What a Hummingbird Taught Me About God

last year, i put out a bird feeder and filled it with seed.

i would frequently watch birds come and go while making breakfast.. during early summer, i passed by the window and spotted a hummingbird hovering near the seed filled feeder, looking around.

as if to say, "where's mine?"..

It is easy to accept that God is a judgmental person (male) looking down from above for falling sparrows or me coveting my neighbour's wife's ass.

We humans insist on describing God in our own limited parameters. I agree with you that God is in fact the whole power of the universe including us. (If that is what you mean).

And I do believe that we can tap into that power through prayer.

I believe that we need Holy Men, spiritual guiders, to assist us. Such Holy Men could include Jesus, Buddha, Mohammed, the Pope, Sharmans, etc.

But then again..I'm just a wombat.

Do you follow you own advice?

Sometimes there is no need to give advice.

It can be very flattering when another asks your for advice. If your ego takes over you may feel compelled to pontificate beyond your capabilities.

Most times (not all) it may be better to encourage that person to just talk. Given time to talk it over with someone without an agenda, they will arrive at their own answers.

Also, I don't feel that it is hypocritical for a person with a heavy addiction, for example, to advise another to stay away from a potential problem. So long as they admit to their own problem.

read a post yesterday where someone had the number of partakers in 1935 the cut off year,the number of partakers(annointed) was 52465 this dosnt leave many places for the people before the org was chosen in 1919.so the total number of places in heaven before 1935 was 91535.it seems that there cant of been many true followers in the 1902 years prior to their being chosen,in fact it works out there were only 48 annointed spaces per year.but suddenly from 1919 to 1935 a period of only 16 years we have an increase of holy ones to 3279 per year .this is so obviously rubbish,and how the hell did they no there were 91535 annointed before them,hope that all makes sense.

A few swipes of this stuff and you certainly see visions and hear voices.

Should the newly annointed be breath tested before partaking?

back when i was a boy in the 1950s many men wore hats and so did my father.. one evening at the kh he was called in to the backroom by the elders for a 'meeting after the meeting',.

his crime?

he had been seen raising his hat when greeting women!!!!.

Yeah..I was about 18 or 19 and a bunch of us were heading out to the bush to spread the good news..

You gotta look the part of a bushie so I bought myself an expensive Akubra. This is an iconic Australian's hat worn by farmers and graziers in the outback.

Then I was told not to take it as I would be expected to tip it if I met a lady. That would be untheocratic. Gee I was pissed off...........Wombat

Are the demons harassing you?

i found this particular article in the 'questions from readers' section of the april 15th 2006, watchtower, incredibly shallow and non specific.

it did not define what a jw was to consider a 'demon attack' and could well explain why the average jw considers their car breaking down, on their way to fs an out and out attack from satan and his deemunz!.

Opening the door for a dub

i'm in the habit of opening the door for people - nothing unusual about that, i know, but to me it's plain good manners.

it's a kind of recognition of a person who just passes by fleetingly but, is after all, a fellow traveller on this marvellous orb called earth.. so it was today that after filling up with petrol (gas) at our local service station, i went to the cashier's booth to pay.

as i entered, a man was leaving and i opened the door for him to pass, waiting while he walked through.

jwfacts..Agreed...When my dear 89 yo mother was in the burns ward for a month five weeks ago she spoke to the nurses of her myriad of children, grand children, great grand children and two great-great grandchildren.

A nurse asked me why she hardly had any visitors so I was forced to explain in detail to her the teachings of the Watch Tower Bible and Tract Society of New York. The family members were not permitted to visit whilst I was there.

I hope that she didn't tell all the other nurses.
