Yeah Greendawn...The whole problem is caused by the Pacific Ocean. It takes up half the planet if you turn the globe in the right position.
What we need is Postates in Fiji or Hawaai (or however you spell it).

Like Frog, I am tired of seeing my name in print.. To solve this problem we need either to get rid of the Pacific Ocean or find an equivalent of unclebruce in Haiwaii.

i remember how margarine adverts called them good for the heart because they contained no cholesterol or saturated fats but they were loaded with trans fats that are indeed bad for the heart.
now good quality margarines dont have any but in the past they contained 20-40% trans fats.
May as well be Frog. I've got a couple of spare bedrooms, don't work and Steve Irwin's Australia Zoo is about 40 minutes drive away. I took some visitors up there a few weeks ago and they were given a wave by the man himself as he cruised past on a bike. They were stoked.
I've got a few visitors booked in for this year already. I only accept folk who are interesting.

The Book of Revelation is comparable to Nostrodamius's writings. I don't think that it is fair to attribute those words to Jesus. Obviously many do but I can't imagine those words coming out of Jesus' mouth.

All Australian were asking the same thing when they first heard it. It was thought up by a bunch of suits in an advertising agency trying to be cute.
Firstly, here a shrimp is a very, very small prawn. Size of a fingernail. What Americans call "shrimp" we call prawns.
Also I can't recall actually ever seeing anyone here barbequeing (barbie) prawns. I suppose some folk do.
If we are having a get-together we just buy a kilo of them already cooked and wash them down with good wine or beer.
Tourists are always made to feel very welcome in Australia, especially if they get out of the big cities. And it really is a beautiful place with lots to see. But the advertising makes we locals cringe.

Damsel....Australian are a very sober people...We actually do order half a glass of beer.
Frog...Smith's (Criterion?) Hotel next to the bridge on the south side of the river always had good steaks. Stayed there a lot 35 years ago. The lady with the tea trolley who tapped on the door in the morning always gave me an extra arrowroot biscuit. Fond memories.
Further north the Orient Hotel was my favourite. Always had a good band.
I reckon I'll move back up that way one day. Could be some good real estate bargains in Innisfail soon. A lot of folk will have to leave. There will be no more crops for at least a year and that's the only industry.
But Tassie has absolutely the best real estate value in Australia and is one of the prettiest places.

Yeah Premier Pete and Mr Howard learned a lesson from George W. about the public backlash from reacting slowly.
The devastation there is beyond belief. As Pete said tonight, the area affected is half the size of Tasmania - bigger than some European countries. Big rain forests wiped out.
It is bloody amazing that not one person was killed. They had a similar size cyclone there - exactly the same path - back in the 1800s and there were about 120 deaths. (This figure doesn't include aborigines. They weren't people then).
Bloody oath...the last time we had day light saving the cows wouldn't milk, the chooks wouldn't lay and the curtains faded.
Anyway our Premier reckons that the sun shines out of his bum and he's not getting up an hour earlier for anyone.
