  Hi Geevee,

  Sorry you have to deal with this. My JW family knows that I have been irregular for a long time and they don't even care enough for me or my daughter to threaten me with destruction. So, at least this shows concern.

  I don't know your situation, but if I got a letter like that, this would be my partial response:

  Dear B.,

  I know you mean well and I appreciate your concern for my everlasting life. However, I do feel you are treading on dangerous ground. You see, Jehovah has authorized Jesus to do the judging, not humans. I detect a judgmental tone in your letter. It makes me feel that you're trying to shame me or guilt trip into returning. I trust Jesus' judgment of me and if that judgment is negative, and I don't end up being in the new system, then Jehovah will help you and the family cope with the loss. Each member of my family has the same decision to make and Jesus will judge them accordingly.

  (I'd probably throw in a few scriptures on a Christian's responsibilities (not the WTS version of that) and on judging.)

  I still attend Sunday meetings, and I have to say that most of the time I do hear at least one new thought and or a mention of a scripture I haven't heard in quite some time. There's little in most public talks that I find objectionable. The WT studies are a bit more problematic, especially since I started reading Blondie's reviews.

  whe i hit 19, i was living at home and working, secretly saving up for a tiny apartment so i could fade.

  i was showing no interest in finding a "suitable marriage mate" in the truth.

  suddenly, there started appearing at our sunday meetings eligible young brothers from out of town, and they seemed to be meeting up with my parents stranger still, they had been invited back to our house afterwards for lunch!

  My JW relatives have really shirked their duty in this area. As a teen, the few JW boys who came around came on their own initiative and I wasn't interested in any of them. So here I am 42 and still single. Could it be that "the brothers" sense I'm not exactly the submissive type?

  Hi MsMcDucket,

  You've shared one of my favorite pick-me-up techniques. When I'm feeling down or unloved or unlovable, I tell myself how great I am.

  That tactic usually manages to lift my spirits or at least gets me to laugh at my pathetic-ness (is that a word?).

  All Elders Aren't Bad

  i've read posts from time to time where it is obvious that people have been treated badly by either a jc or by individual elder themselves while in the society.

  i can honestly say that in all my years as an elder, i have never seen this side.

  most elders that i have known are committed, honest and fair minded men, who believe in what they are doing and have complete and utter faith in the organization.

  Take any group of people and there will be good and then the truly evil. JWs are no different. Unfortunately, the meek and mild will be trampled on by the strong-willed and the bullies who tend to do the damage.
