Its Time to get IRAQ
by Amazing inhad the usa known in advance that the wtc was going to be attacked, we could and should have taken preemptive action.
there was some 'fuzzy' knowledge that this might happen, but not enough to know the day or hour.
yet, we still could have should have done more to prepare.. we could wait until saddam hussein completes his weapons program, and then nukes a few cities to decide we have enough evidence on hand to go after him.

it is really outstanding the transformation of persons who were associated with jws from neutral subjects to outright warmongers, especially those who used to profess brotherhood with christ.

I thought everyone knew about agent orange and napalm.
Which is immaterial to the case here anyway, the purpose was different and Vietnam was a mistake, but it was a war of containment, not a grab for power. It was about stopping communism and stoping China and the North Vietnamese from taking over non-communist south Vietnam. Just another legacy of the cold war. Doesn't make it right though so it shouldn't be used as justification for doing nothing about Saddam either.

My mom wasn't that bad, but I did see parents like yours. Its sad really, this whole passage is sad when you see all of the controlling behavior that is lauded by it. And then for us we all know that the foundation that these people base all their hopes of "saving their children's lives" on is all just a heap of lies anyway.
Way to ruin a childs life in the name of complete wacky falsehood.

Realist, I think I should qualify your statement by saying that The US made war unavoidable because Japan was an expansionist empire, having taken over portions of China, the Korean penninsula and most of the South Pacific. The US stood in the way of them succeeding in this takeover, thats why they Had to attack the US, because in order for them to succeed, the US couldn't be allowed to treaten their supply of resources to their armies. So the US did take part in bringing on the attack by Japan, but only because they represented an obstacle to their plans, because the US was the major power in the pacific at the time, a position Japan wanted to be in.

Simon, why are these countries so impoverished when the US and other western nations send already Billion in aid to them? Could it be that they are under oppresive regimes and ruled by m egalomanical despots who pocket the aid money that is given to them and allow their own people to starve ?
So if we gave aid to Iraq do you think it would solve Iraq's problems? Would it turn Saddam into a harmless kitten? I don't think so!
Suicide bombers and terrorists are bred through an ideology that hates the western ideas of freedom of religion, freedom of expression and just overall living your life the way you want. The "enemy" here is the imposition of religious fundamentalist law upon human beings. Just now a woman was sentenced to be stoned to death under "Sharia" or muslim law simply because she had sex outside the marriage and became pregnant. What happened to the man, he was let off because of not enough evidence. Seems because the woman was pregnant that that was evidence enough to sentence her to public stoning. You see what they will do to this woman is bury her in the dirt up to her neck so she can't scurry away and then they have all the townspeople throw stones at her head until she dies. Kind of reminds you of something else that we all are familiar with in one way or another.
Imagine if the governing body was the actual government of the country you lived in? That is the case in much of the Muslim world. We can argue on and on about whether Islam is a great religion or not, but the answer to that question is inconsequential when you consider the basic fact that religious fundamentalist governments are an evil in our world, in our time. This is what we figh for, this is why those people are suffering. The US and other western countries have made bad moves, but the ultimate blame for the condition of the impoverished people in the world can only lie with their own corrupt governments.
Now we can either cry about mistakes that we have made in the past or we can single out the worst of these evil dictators, who's actions demonstrate that he represents a danger to the stability of the world and do something about it. That is the course of action that I support, and as I have also heard and someone else has mentioned thid either here or in another thread, most of the people of Europe do to. We have seen this kind of evil before, we can either learn from history or ignore it and make our job 10 times harder.

Simon, do you think that for the sake of looking good in the history books that it was ok for most of Europe to come under German oppression, for 6million Jews to die and millions more to be brought to the brink of death? For a war to be fought in which millions more died? All this so that it would look unquestionably that the allies did the right thing when it could have been prevented in the first place. Even Hitler admitted that if the world would have put pressure on him instead of "appeasement" then he wouldn't have been able to go so far.
Right now we have all the evidence in the world that Saddam is the same kind of man with the same kinds of tendencies as a Hitler, which he has proven countless times in the past by being an agressor, by murdering his own people and now finally by not complying with UN agreements that He himself made to have his weapons inspected and destroyed. Must we wait for the bodies to start piling up like they did in WWII before we stop such a man? Yes, war takes a toll on innocent lives. Even American and British soldiers would undoubtedly lose their lives in an invasion, as well as innocent Iraqi civilians, but consider the alternatives. Its a moral decision that must be made, we can't just sit on the fence forever about this, or accept a wait and see attitude, because that is more deadly than the course of taking action against this man in the long run.
