i'm a former jw that faded out this year.
i'm 21 years old and i live in a certian midwestern state.
the reason why i left was because of many things.
I also reccomend Community College, get control of your life, even though the road may be slow you eventually want to get out of your parents house so you can be your own person. College will help you do this and getting into community college is easy.
just wanted some of my new friends to send out the good vibes for me.
its about 2:15 and i have an interview at 3:00. i am soooooooooo nervous.

I went through the same problem late last year into early this year. I was out of work for 9 months!! Finally got a job though, you will too! I hope you get this one!
the reason no one knows the date or time of 'the end' - and that no one needs to know - is because being a christian is about how you live!

Because the witnesses DO for a reward, they DO for a prize. It doesn't come from the heart.
Its like telling your kid, clean your room and i'll give you some ice cream, he doesnt WANT to clean his room, but he does it for the ice cream.
Witnesses are told to love and they are told who to love, the love they show is directed to them, it doesn't originate with them.
They are so far removed from what Jesus taught and the way he lived.

Hillary, thank you for clearing this up. Personally I have had some of the same concerns about silentlambs for some time and I am now worried that those concerns I had are turning into reality.
I think a lot of us were hoping that silentlambs would be something that would finally be able to expose the WTS, and maybe because of this we were willing to put aside doubts so that we could support this cause even though many of us were never abused ourselves. We simply wanted to see someone succeed against the WTS where so many others have failed. Some are still holding onto their "faith" in silentlambs and others are becoming disillusioned with radical tactics that seem to do more harm to the cause than good. It is unfortunate that it has come to this point, but these things usually do.
i called my mother yesterday and for some reason, the conversation drifted into dub-talk.
she was upset that some of my siblings were still at home, not concerned about looking for jobs or pursuing some kind of job training (the acceptable term for "going back to school", apparently).
none of these siblings are baptized, so pioneering is not even an issue.. anyway, i suggested that maybe they were discouraged because people around them (dubs, in particular) were harping on the idea that armageddon was "just around the corner" and that it seemed like a waste of time to pursue those activities.
I guess one of the "beautiful things" about Theocratic War Strategy(TM) is that it's especially effective when one is lying to oneself.
That is the most common way it is used on the dubs, denying the facts. It's another word for what they call faith, which they have twisted into meaning that what the Watchtower says is more true than what your 5 senses may tell you. This is how they keep people trapped, within their own minds.
And yet, they do have to deal with life's realities. As they get old they look back on how when they were kids they thought they wouldn't even be out of school before the end came, I know I did. But some people have been believing the lie for 20, 30, 40, 50+ years. These people have desperate need for their beliefs to come true, or else they would have wasted their entire life for nothing. No matter what you believe, we hall have the thought, "what if this life is all there is?" They must think that way too from time to time.
So what do they do? They look for "signs" that the end is coming soon, they grasp at straws, anything to give them some hope that they haven't lived a life of futility, that they didn't put off their dreams for nothing. Because if the end never comes then they have taken the 70-80 years that they have on this earth, years that you don't get a second chance for and they have squandered them. What a shame and I know a lot of dubs feel this deep inside once in awhile.
