i was watching seinfeld with my family yesterday.

it was an episode where george gets in some trouble because he has been hanging out with some people from houston and he saying "you bastards" and similar silly stuff.

my dad had to say.."bad association spoils useful habits"...gawd!!!!!!.

a letter was read this week at the philadelphia area kingdom halls that this year's district convention will be held in norphilly (north philly) at the liacouras center (temple university's indoor arena).

this is the first time the philadelphia district convention will be held indoors.

Moved to arizona

hey all....it's been a while since i posted...(many moons)....i have been very busy working out my move from oregon to arizona....well i have been here 3 months now and love it!!

!...the wife and kids are here with me (i moved her away from all her jw family)...and we all are settleing in.

the wife has hooked up with the local kingdom hall here but hey...one step at a time...:).

Anyway, my wife and I are thinking of moving there in a couple of years or so, things are too expensive where we live now, like houses and such.

Garage Sale Tips? Ideas? Suggestions?

erm, i believe garage sales are also known as yard sales in the states?

anyway, i'm planning on holding a garage sale in a month's time, as i will be moving and i want to get rid of my junk, as well as hopefully raise some few much-needed $$$.. those of you who have held them, what advice do you give?

any tips on making it more profitable?

Mom just bought life insurance

recent bizarre family events have led my mom a 35-year witness (she's in her mid 60s) and my dad, the unbelieving mate (he's in his early 70s) to consider putting their "affairs in order".

neither are ill in any way, but my mom's mother is not doing too well, leaving her care to be managed by my mother.. .

when grandma's husband died awhile back, the affairs were not prepared adequately, leaving a lot of headaches for those of us required to handle things.

Its sad to see all these witnesses who thought that they would see some promised Armageddon (which is sick in its own way) growing old and having to face death. Missing out on living a normal life for a lie. At least your mom is facing reality, which is good. It says a lot about the state of the people still left in the organization. Their "faith" isn't what it once was, reality does get more and more obvious over the years, just as their governing body becomes more senile, the "corporation" is taken over by lawers and the "magic" is gone. Certainly the Golden Years of the Witnesses that were the 50s and 60s and even the 80s are over. Its just sad that so many threw away their lives, because in my opinion, you only get one.
