  Big Night in NYC

  my son nicholas is playing for a songwriter session at the bitter end in the village tomorrow night at 7:00. he is 17 and sent his myspace and they called him two weeks ago.

  it is so exciting for him.

  amazing for me because my mom was a singer and gave it up for the "truth" in the early 50"s. life comes full circle.

  My Son Nicholas is playing for a songwriter session at the Bitter End in the Village tomorrow night at 7:00. He is 17 and sent his myspace and they called him two weeks ago. It is so exciting for him. Amazing for me because my mom was a singer and gave it up for the "truth" in the early 50"s. Life comes full circle. He will play piano and guitar and all original songs. They give them a 15 minute slot the first time. I have two brothers who live on Long Island one is still a witless, and of course he can't make it(loser). Of course he could make it last week to some Jobo get together, bit not to his nephews gig.Anyway just wanted to share we you guys, and of course if anyone is down in the viallage come check him out there will be about 25 of us there.   hi everyone some of you know may know my 17 year old son is an aspiring musician.

  he sent an audition cd to perform at the bitter end for thier singer/songwriter sessions on sundays.

  he was accepted and will perform on sunday october 12th at 7:15. .

  A rant about my JW ELDER(and elder) dad

  sorry, just a rant... so i am speaking with my dad last night and all i want to do is bring up the best week ever ...jehovah's witnesses are still ridiculous bit, but i hold my tongue because what's the point he's old.

  then he begins to tell me about some problems he is having with his leg circulation etc.

  so he goes to this chiropractor and he tells him to take some vitamins so he decided to call his jw friend who sells shaklee and order through him.

  Thanks all for responding..You are so right about JW's being afraid of everyone, meanwhile the least educated of all people they try and get advice from, bazar!! Mary..He had a quadruple bypass 10 years ago and they take the veins from your legs. So basically there is nothing that can really be done. Maybe some exercise and massage could help. Because he has nothing except JW bull$hit going on his only extra activities are going to doctors(and trying to witness to them). So this is just the new thing.

  SORRY, JUST A RANT... Then he tells his JW friend who sells shaklee and lives near Wakill that he is sending his blood tests to him to have him give them to the JW doctor on the liason committee to look them over and see what can be done. I say dad this is the idiot JW who told me there is no blood in a organ when you take it to do a transplant. What do you possibly expect to find out from him, go to your own doctor. He the of course changes the subject and gets off the phone....WHAT THE HELL IS WRONG WITH THESE PEOPLE!!!

He is a songwriter and musician but going to other schools for communications. If he could however be accepted to this program it would be great. He could get a double major music and communications. I thought someone on the board goes there and might have some good pointers or just some good information. Thanks for any help...Champ

  Four Years Awake...

  yes, it was yesterday, september 15th, that marked four years to the day of my "awakening" from the watchtower coma.

  it's been quite a ride, but here are the highlights.... -sept. 15, 2004: after months of investigation and mental gymnastics, i read tom cabeen's "does god work through an organization?

  " this day, at 38 and in the third generation of a four generation jw family, i knew for sure i'd been misled.. -march, 2005: i am reinstated at my congregation.

  First I have to say I missed a Dave Matthews concert in June because my 17 year old son was asked to play at a party and we were also invited Total Bummer... Anyway I love your avatar, love Dave, but more importantly Love your story. It sounds you've see the ups and the downs of life and your really doing ok!! I really hope it works for you and Rachel...and if not you"ll be okay!!!! How's your daughter doing at school? Champ

  WHERE WERE YOU 7 YEARS AGO?

  guess i'll be the first one to do an (inevitable) thread about 9-11. hard to believe it's been 7 years already.

  i was at work when one of my co-workers came up and told me that a plane had hit the world trade center.

  i thought it was awful, but i figured it was a small single engine plane that maybe lost its way in the fog.

  I was home and my husband called me a said turn on the television. I saw the 2nd plane hit. My husband is a bond trader and where the plane hit on the 110th floor was Cantor Fitzgerald and his buddy Carl was on that floor. He spoke to him about 50 times a day doing trades. He was trying to call him and totally freaking out. We kept thingking everthing will be okay..little did we know. They worst thing was someone said they found him a the end of the 2nd day, they put his name on a list...but it was wrong.....

  One of my husbands best friend Carl Flickinger, and another good buddy Steve Cherry. I always remember Carls twin boys birthdays because they turned 11 years old that following Saturday. Carl was out looking for bikes for them the weekend before. He never got a chance to buy them so a bunch of the guys went out and picked two up for the twins.It was so sad. So they will turn 18 this coming week. We were great friends,he gave me a hand when I started my own promotional business.He had me come to his then firm Herzog and they wrote my first big order. It's weird I just was looking at a silver bracelet his wife gave me with his name on it and 9/11 never forget.. engraved on it. She just got remarried this past Feb. The area I livein CT had alot of people that worked for Cantor, and a few other Wall street firms that were in the buildings. Two boys who play on my sons lacrosse team lost thier dad and he was a well known lacrosse player. So today was a sad day around town...

  ADHD meds

  just wondering if anyone has teenagers with adhd, and are they on meds?

  my son has it but always refrain the meds.

  he just met someone who said there are so many new drugs and at a low dose it just keeps you on task.

  wanted to say a big thank you to you all.i carried my print out from the forum with all your suggeations for my trip visiting colleges with my son and his younger brother.

  besides some of the suggestions we also went to the home of edgar allen poe in richmond, the spy museum in washington, and the hermitage,home of andrew jackson in nashville....it was so great and my younger son believe it or not loved visiting all the colleges.

  all places were great, but i have to say i just loved washington dc.. by the way momzcrazy..i think my son goes to preform at the bluebird on tuesday night.

  By the way Momzcrazy..I think my son goes to preform at the Bluebird on Tuesday night. He is at Vanderbilt for the song writing program.
