Hi Jonathon
venting can be a good release, there are many people who understand what you are feeling.

i heard that word used to describe being raised a jehovah's witness recently.
it made me think and put things in i think there proper perspective.
anyone who was born/raised a witness or even those who came later who were lured by their words are truly victims.

after reading for a few months this is my first post here.
i was raised a jehovah's witness by my parents who became jw's in the late '70s from field service.
i'm still a jw but doing a lot of researching on the history of the wts.
Hi and welcome to the forum, glad you decided to post.
I'd also recommend Ray Franz's book as he has some great thought provoking details, written in a loving, non bitter manner.
other things that may be worth discussing is the changes in the blood policy, the paedophilia cover-ups, and the Mexico/Malawi hypocracy. Although sometimes it can be better to plant a few seeds, and take it slowly as too much could cause bad feeling between you.
My parents have refused to believe the things I told them. ("lies spread by apostates"), and I'm cooling it just now rather than upsetting them more.
hope it all works out for you
Best wishes

while i was in high school in the mid 60's i was told that the end was so near that i would not get to graduate from high school so i should not be concerned about being drafted due to the war in vietnam.
well i got drafted but did not pass my physical due to a medical problem.. i then considered go to school in the late 60's to enter the medical field.
i was encouraged by the elders not to do this because the end is so near and why get schooling for a profession that you will not need in a few years?
Thanks for your story
I was a teenager during that timefram (born in), I don't remember our hall having a "countdown sign", but the pressure was on and 75 was on everyones minds and lips.
certainly did a lot of damage. My family left in 81, but they got sucked back in a few years later. parents and one sister still in.
I think their reasoning is that if they deny it and rewrite history the majority of new members will not believe that they behaved that way. it's sickening
i had lots of questions at 17 yrs old.
i had a lot of respect for the bible having been told it was sacred and holy.
i was brought up in an atheist household but through circumstances found myself studying at age 17. the common sense of it all (it looks that way at 17) appealed to me and before long i wholeheartedy embraced the faith.
Welcome
thanks for sharing your story. my parents used to say "for every one they get in the front door, they lose two out the back door." Unfortunately my folks went right round the building themselves and back in the front door!
glad that you're feeling less conflict now, hope it all works out for you. methinks you're a Scot by the way you talked about your "wee girl". Me too!
Best wishes

so what do you like ladies and gentalmen, .
on men that is.
facail hair on women doesn't really do it for me.
When I first met my husband he had a little goatee, pretty cute. Then after about 15yrs he grew a beard again.
ew, it was patchy and had lots of white in it. didn't like it. he only kept it for that winter.
so it all depends, facial hair can be good, but it's not the hair that does it for me. the eyes and the smile have it!

if we take the bible at face value we are confronted with a serious problem.
how do we know when god is telling us the facts and when is he just telling us something he thinks we are capable of understanding?
this is not quite the same as the argument that god lies on occasion.
Well, I know you definately can't believe everything in the NWT.
As for other translations, I just dunno.......

couldn't help but notice that kitty had been df'd twice, can anyone in here beat that?.

I was an angel (polishing my halo at this moment!)
just slipped away one day, to the other side of the planet!! Anyway slugga, this is show and tell.........how bad were you?
i've only been back posting here several days and i think i'm falling in love.
this is the third time it's happened here.
the first one got impatient and ran off with another poster
Awww unc
don't take it badly, just enjoy the feeling. Third time's a charm they say!
i'm asking this because i found myself in an bad spot monday night.
my daughter is almost three and goes to a little preschool thing each day.
they were to have a valentine's day party on tuesday, for which i was to bring fruit, etc.
I'm pretty bad with birthdays too. I know my kids, husbands and sisters, but often forget others. i felt really bad that I had not mentioned my mum' s 70th in Dec. They're active so they probably would't have cared anyway, but I felt mean that I didn't ring her up. When I did remember this month I thought it was too late to say anything so just let it go.

how many of you lived with your spouse before you got married and how do you think it effected the outcome of your marriage?.
for those not married would you live with someone before you agreed to marry them?
Vote ONE, for premarital cohabitation!
