Witnesses LOVE Christmas Lights!
by gumby ini don't know how publishers in your neck of the woods veiws christmas lights......but all the ones i've been around since being born into this religion........loves to see all the lights.
we even used to get a map in the paper that showed where those lived with huge decorations and go see them.
some entire blocks would get together and do all their yards and we witnesses would drive around to see it all.

Are YOU a Risk Taker?
by Golf ini am, how about you or do you prefer your comfort zone?
being a risk taker doesn't mean you have to put your life literally on the line i.e., did you ever stand up to someone in authority and give them a piece of your mind?
what are some of the things you did that you considered risk-taking?

jw's & Christmas cookies
by carla indue to my jw eating most of the christmas cookies and having to remake many, many batches, people ask me how it's ok for a jw to eat christmas cookies considering how they feel about christmas.
i don't know how to answer other than , 'i guess they pick and choose what's ok'.
how do they justify eating christmas cookies?

carla, one or two cookies would probably warrant private reproof but it seems to me from what you've said that greediness was involved here.Tell the elders immediately or you are sharing in his sin.

Multi-personalities, sounds good, lets all catch it!
by free2beme ini was in a congregation in california at one time growing up, and there was this weird thing that happened.
this woman in the congregation started saying she had multi-personalities.
basically, she had names for all these people living in her mind and she would change into them at time.

"within a short time my friendships tripled and yet the amount of people at the gettogethers were the same."
"malaise du jour"
hehehe!
I can remember the time when ANYTHING inexplicable was demonic.Mental unwellness was never something you'd see a doctor about, but the crusty old elders would come and pray over you like exorcists. -

Conspiracy theories
by PoppyR inhubby just got back from the meeting, they have put a list up of new groups and who is going where.. so rather than try and remember it he took a picture with his phone camera.. the presiding overseer then calls.. says hi to me, but that's it (has said nothing else to me since i stopped going) and asked to be passed on to hubby.
then told him he must delete the picture because it was against data protection.. i am very familiar with data protection laws in the uk and know this story was utter rot, so think that asking hubby to delete the picture might be something to do with me not seeing it... am i just being paranoid!!!

WTS vs Quotes: Requiem for a Research Web Site
by Quotes inin compliance with the terms of a settlement agreement, my information and research web site, http://quotes.watchtower.ca, is now "dark".
the domain "watchtower.ca" has been transferred to wts (i assume they will have it pointing to borg.org watchtower.org asap).
my copies of the site have been destroyed, the files deleted, and my wt library cd has been destroyed, in accordance with the settlement agreement which will afford a "discontinuance" of their suit against me.

Research into Jehovahs Witnesses
by truth finder ini would encourage anyone to look into the ante-nicene fathers, or better yet you can ask the watchtower to send you some photocopies.
the watchtower employs bad scholarship, e.g.
plagiarism, misquotating, and insufficient information.

Thanks for your earnestness truthfinder, but fahrvegnugen is spot on with the definite article matter.
You do yourself a disservice however with your spelling,(misquotating, deffinite, advoid). It's hard to accept your scholarship if your spelling is inaccurate.
But welcome to the site and take some time to read.Cheers Pete.
