I was talking to a nurse who visits me from time to time last week about my experience as a JW. She had been a member of the New Life church for a couple of years. They are a Pentecostal type. She couldn't speak in tongues or be healed from an illness and so got dropped like a hot cake for not fitting in.
She could relate to many of the things I told her about Witnesses.

After reading "Ex-Born Again" websites, they say many things like ex-jws
by booker-t ini was curious the other day and just wanted to see what born-again christians that left the fold had to say about their former churches and religions.
it was amazing to see that they say many similar things like ex-jws.
many of these people were ex-pastors, ex-ministers, ex-missionaries.

To Amanda, yes it was a bit of a sweeping statement. I didn't realise you were a non JW. And of course people like jgnat too would understand.
I talked to a visiting nurse last week about my experience as a Witness. After a half hour she said 'it sounds like a cult!' 'Yes!' I said, 'now you're getting it.'
But I suppose it must be like a woman who is frightened to leave an abusive relationship perhaps? -

Wooden chopping board?????????
by vitty ini know its a strange question and i didnt know which category to put it under but here goes........... i bought one about 2 years ago.
its about 1-1/2 thick................but i dont know how to get some stubborn stains off it.
its got yellow and orange ones at the moment (from a curry we had last night)............ive scrubbed it but to no avail.

I believe that untreated wood has a naturally occurring anti-bacterial property. You've probably seen old butchers blocks used for decades with an occasional sand and wipe down.
We've had our chopping board, stained and cut, for several years and never had a problem. -

Except I came 'in' in 1982ish. Suicide attempts, depression and hospitalisation saved me from 'The Truth'.

Need Help!
by LibraLady ini really need some advice for a problem that is really bothering me and that is why i signed on to this site.
i have become estranged completely from my dear sister who has become a dedicated jw.
i am sure that many of you have heard stories like this before but it really hurts me.

The first thing JW's tell a Bible student is that they will get opposition from family and friends because of studying with them. Satan is the one doing this therefore opposition is proof that they are doing something that pleases Almighty God, The Supreme One of the Universe!
So anything anti-Witness will be counter productive. Instead try and stay in contact with her and learn counter measures to Witness rhetoric by visiting sites like this.
When the love bombing stops she needs to know her family loves her. -

This was just another proof to me that the Society is utterly terrified of the ability of people to disseminate and think on information freely, even communication between Witnesses is to be SHUNNED. Yes, that is exactly what the above is suggesting.

Yo dawg! (LOL). I used to have nightmares about demons like so many others here.
I'm the only demon that frightens me now. I don't believe that demons, (if they exist), have any more interest in humans than does God himself.
