  I have a variation of this compulsion but it has no religious aspect as far as I can tell.
  
  I behave similarly to Cole in the way I use the number 5. I also feel compelled to keep footsteps and 'things' balanced as well as silently multiplying numbers in a strict way.
  
  One of my (many) therapists indicated that this isn't too uncommon and that the number 6 is the most frquently used number.
  
  BTW, it gets worse when under stress but I hide it pretty well. My wife will sometimes catch me forming imaginary 'balanced' pictures using window / door frames etc. Hard to explain really.

  Remember the WT that suggested shaved heads would be misconstrued as making a political statement? (I assume they meant punks & skinheads) Too bad if you had cancer or alopecia.

  The demons attacked me for a full six months before I was married.
  
  I used to experience these really vivid dreams. They weren't at all unpleasant but I remember waking up with my heart just pounding and finding this really freaky 'plasma'
  of some sort.
  
  After I was married, this demon gave up on me I guess coz I've had no problems since.

  When a JW, what did you think about human fossils of 1.2 million years

  when i was in and documentaries came on the telly about human fossils being found dated 800 000 years old or 1.2 million years old i would always say - they surely must have the dating process wrong (hello - i'm not expert) or would try find a loop whole to make sure that the belief of mans' 6/7000 year existance.. i also used to reason that they were probably a species of apes or forgeries - anything to make myself believe we as jws' were right - i did this without even "thinking" really - like breathing.. i even studied science & biology at school and would also have to come up with ""excuses"" for this or that.

  ag what did we know we were only kids, but when you become an adult and have adult reasoning faculties one can't ignore the facts.. so what did you create as a safe bubble when things like this came up?.
