I agree - I live each day as it is unto itself. The major creed I live by is to treat my fellow human and animal as kindly and respectfully as I can each and every day. I don't need a god or a belief system to do this. I help people when they need it, I give financial help when I can, I treat everyone regardless of color or belief or status as an equal. I think religion of any kind separates people, it judges people, it condemns people. I abhor it. Since the beginning of time, religion has given acceptance of the senseless murder of people. Think about the Native Americans and the Christian priests who came to save their souls. Yea, they spread their diseases and all but killed of entier tribes of these people. We are doing the same now in the Middle East - accept American democracy ideas or we will kill you. It is a no win situation.

OK, how is everyone handling the upcoming holidays? I was raised a JW so never celebrated at all. Over the years as a married but no kids couple, I have just done whatever my hubby wanted which usually consists of just having dinner at his parents' house. But then we got tired of that since they are all a bunch of negative nellies and ignorant in their own way. We've gone out of town - that is great actually, but this year, can't swing it. I finally bought a 4 ft. prelit tree and put presents for all our animals under it. Im always accused of being a grinch but people just don't realize if you have no child memories of xmas, and you have no religious beliefs, what is left? As much as I feel like I missed out on fond childhood memories, I also hate the greedy crap that goes on with Christmas. Americans are already do in debt and then they go out and buy a bunch of stuff just to say that they celebrated - it really turns me off big, big time! But then again, I hate feeling down and out at the holidays! What's a lady to do?!!! Such a double-edged sword.

Leaving JWs Has Made Me Intolerant of Stupid Thinking - How About U?
by Seeker4 inlori (my girlfriend - a non-jw).
and i had quite a discussion last night.
i am almost always a very tolerant, easygoing person, but there is this one aspect of my personality that has caused us a certain amount of tension.

What gets me even more than the ignorance is the hypocrisy. I left the JW borgs when they humiliated my mom so badly that she tried to commit suicide and made my brother feel so guilty, he turned to drinking and ended up freezing to death walking home from work drunk. But my mom found a way to forgive and forget and all my attempts to educate her to the lunancy of their reasoning (once she tried to explain why JW had to have created everything because you couldn't put sugar, flour, and milk in a bag and shake it and end up creating a cake!) I finally realized that continuing to try to reason with her was futile and was only hurting out relationship. So I gave up and we both kind of silently agreed to never discuss these topics again. I don't know how people leave JWs and move on to Christianity of any sort. I do agree the whole experience leaves you feeling very jaded. I am much more inclined to follow Eastern teachings of Tao or Budda (love to drop this line in front of Christainites - they have a coronary - very funny! Try it!

Iraq abuse 'as bad as Saddam era'
by Simon inwell, thank god we went in there eh?
obviously, it was to stop abuse (after the previous excuses fell through).. now that things are as bad as under saddam, i guess that puts the final nail in the lie that they went in to help the people (you know, after their previous lie fell through).. is anyone still under any illusion that bush, blair and co. give a shit about the people or are competent enough to organise anything other than a complete fuck up?.

So right! The lies and bullshit are so blatent about why we invaded Iraq it just absolutely stinks! Why aren't people more outraged?! Why aren't people protesting and marching like the Vietnam days? Its because Bush and his cronies have made it out to where if you speak against the war, you are unpatriotic, you hate America, you are anti-supportive of the troops and of course, you are an atheisist heathen also. I could care less about being labeled any of these but most people are so afraid of these labels that they turn tail and march in step to all the lies, bullshit, and propoganda that Bush is generating. Expect now also to start seeing and hearing commercials that Bush is making to tell more fucking lies and we as taxpayers are helping pay for the this shit. If I see one more huge gas-guzzling SUV with a Jesus sticker on one side and a Bush/Cheney on the other I am going to throw up! I firmly belive that the gas prices are falling because Bush knew he had to do something to make the American people feel better and be less critical of him. Tis the fucking season - spend that money - run those 18% credit cards up. Yea America!
