he is insecure. That is the only reason I have ever come up with(if there were a god). It is a good question. The real reason of course, is that God was invented by men who used it as a way to explain things they couldn't, which was then pushed by wise men, priests, holy men as a control issue and then to get worship for themselves cuz only they could communicate with God.

Why would God need worship?
by Vormek2.8 inwhy would an all knowing master of space and time feel the irrepressible need to be adored by mere insects (relatively speaking), and indeed punish them in the most absolute of terms if they fail in this task?
indeed it makes god seem very human, although rather immaturely so.
we expect such behavior from schoolyard bullies, megalomaniac dictators and small children who demand adoration from their beaten dogs.

I've read some pretty imaginative Fairy Tales but....
by lucifer ini must say the bible takes to prize, they are pretty creative, i mean a snake that is a devil talking to a naked woman trying to make her eat fruit, or how about a man who gets his strength through his hair (sampson i think) and an evil woman tricks him and cuts it off, anyone else feel like the bible is a good bedtime story, but now they left the borg find it hard to believe??

JWD WAS ABLE TO CONVINCE ME THE PARADISE WAS A MYTH BUT...
by stillAwitness inthe talk given today sounded pretty convincing.
facts were stated about how our body is designed to live forever (the brain, blood vessels etc) and how all these intricated details about the human body raises us to ask the question: "did not jehovah design us with the purpose of living forever?
now i've read the threads about how there just would not be enough room in the world for all those people.

If the debt of sin is paid with death, then when Jesus resurrected people, why did they die again? Did that not count? Cuz Jesus was resurrected, so why does his count for everyone? Did Jesus do a half assed job with his resurrections? There are bible scholars who argue that the original meaning of the passages interpreted as "everlasting life" actually mean a life of long and uncertain duration. That's a FAR CRY from everlasting.
Ever have an everlasting gobstopper? I have had a bunch of them. Damn Willy Wonka and his lies.

purpose, meaning, yada yada yada.
One thing I am certain of: The purpose of life cannot be to find the purpose of life. I would hate to believe I am here to find out why I am here.

My favourite at the moment is to take a deep breath and say:
"I am a temple of calm"
I dunno why it works but it does! I guess it just helps me to re-focus my thoughts when everythings going crazy around me.
That really reminds me of a seinfeld episode (everything reminds me of a seinfeld episode). "Serenity now". It worked for a while, but eventually you'd freak out completely. so... be careful with that "temple of calm" thing. (of course, it's just a sitcom so whatever works for you )

Number crunching - the impact of the net
by Lady Lee inyesterday i noticed that there were at least 3 newbies who signed up and posted.
almost every day we have at least 1 new person sign up and post.
that of course doesn't include those who sign up and don't post.. i've read numbers that stated it took so many hours of witnessing to make 1 baptized jw.

the hours spent preaching aren't really accurate. I know I would never put under 5 hours on my report otherwise the elders would get on ya. Do they account for that with a margin of error? Plus, aside from the neurotics (those psychos that only count when they are actually speaking to someone as time), people are rather liberal with how they calculate their time. edit: I just realized that this had very little to do with what people were talking about.

The Toes of the Image...
by drew sagan ina few weeks ago some visiting speakers wife gave a comment that almost made me want to hurl.
these people are know for having "goods" in the form of info passed along from people at bethel.
anyway, i guess one of these bethel guys have been saying in their talks that we are so deep into the end of this system that in relation to the giant image related in the book of daniel, we are now not simply in the peroid of time represented by the feet, we are in its toes!

I hated when it was nice outside and we were all stuck inside. On the other hand, I loved when they decided to end a meeting quickly because it was snowing. whoooooooohoooooo!!!!!!!
