What's this crap about "awaiting Jesus return" in the title? I thought he came invisibly already, or some crap like that. I like how they say that "politics and nationalism cause divisions". So do JW's. Cults usually follow a human leader...[we follow a group of human leaders so we aren't a cult].

I am New and I Am Being Discriminated At Work For NOT BEING A Catholic
by Zelaira inand also catholics and lutherans who hate on jws are harrasssing because they are blindsided and i am sick of it .... why do witnesses have such hate poured on them by catholics and lutheran groups?
also, how do you deal with not celebrating holidays?
is it wrong to wear crosses or can it be a gothic thing that a witness can possibly understand?

Exactly what do you mean by being discriminated [against]? Are you even one of the Jehovah's Witnesses, because the questions you ask make it sound like you know nothing about them? And no, you cannot be a "free spirit" if you are a Jehovah's Witness (at least, you won't be one for long). Being a Jehovah's Witness has very little to do with love for "God" and is more about following the rules set by the Watchtower Society. As with most groups that claim they are Christian, homosexuality is condemned. Oh, they will try the line "love the sinner hate the sin" thing, but really, is it possible to love a gay person and hate their gayness? Not in my opinion.(sorry bout the gayness term there, but it helps make my point, sort of.)

I miss the "free" food.
by Justice-One infree food.
it used to make the conventions almost bearable.
i rememeber telling the wife and kids to not put anything in any contribution box, because as the head of the family, i had taken care of it.

Wow I must've been from a rich district because we had Ice Cream every day of the convention. Not the bigger one in Providence but the smaller one in Natick we had ice cream. They had soft serve. Actually now you mention it I do miss the hoagies and danishes. The older danishes though, I remember they switched to small packaged Sarah Lee ones later on, give me generic or give me death LOL. Didn't they have like roast beef sandwiches and chicken patties too? Oh to have another meal there back in the day, actually now it's the kind of food I turn my nose up at, since it's way off my diet course.
Yeah, I went to the Natick one too. The damn sundae line over on the left side of the cafeteria. I remember we never got there very early and had to sit toward the back which meant we got our food last. People would be getting ice-cream before I even had my damn chicken patty and chocolate milk(I hated shasta). A lot of times all the good food would be gone. Last time I went to Natick (after the no food arrangement), I dozed during the first half, went out to get lunch and just never came back.

Sometimes I'll be thinking about something I'm going to say in the future and I'll end up vocalizing it with someone else around...that's plenty embarrassing....
Yeah, I do that too. Usually it is when I am driving.

ANYONE THAT BELIEVES JW'S HAVE THE RIGHT RELIGION ARE........
by minimus inafter realizing how wrong they are either stupid, braindead, or in denial.
you agree????
?
-
riverofdeceit
...wrong. Just like anybody else who believes they have the right religion. (...In my opinion, so that I dont sound like an angry atheist which I may or may not be)About as right as anyone else who thinks they have the right religion. It's all in your head, you can make about as many religions as you want from the bible.
Pretty much said my thoughts but sounded a little nicer. If it makes you happy then it's right for you.

id JWs RIP you OFF in the MARRIAGE Dept.?
by Ms. Whip inthis photo (taken from a jw group on aol) is quite typical of jw marriage matches.
don't get me wrong, i'm sure they are great people as far as jws go.
but, it made me think.

No comment on the picture as I know nothing about these individuals.
I do, however, have an opinion based on my observations and some close people's (relatives) experiences, that some good little jw's get married just because they want to get laid and not get disfellowshipped. Sometimes they have to settle for what is available. There are so many constrictions as to how to get to know the opposite sex in their little cult cookbook. You can only go to so many gatherings with bible pictionary and charades with soda and chips. Maybe if more people chose to portray Delilah or that chick with Joseph? it would've been more enjoyable!!!

Update on my friend - the PO called
by fullofdoubtnow inmy friend marion has just arrived at my home, and she certainly has had an interesting few days!
she hasn't been attending meetings lately, and on saturday the po from her hall phoned to ask why.
actually, he had phoned several times before, and left messages, but she hasn't been replying and, in his own words, he is very concerned as to what, if anything, is wrong.. she remembers the conversation fairly well (pity she couldn't record it), and it went like this:.

Fricken shepherding calls. Nothing like one of those to ruin your Sunday (or what is left of it after the meeting). I remember when I was a kid who wanted to go play after but noooooooo. Those losers would come and read scriptures and make a mother of three and their kids feel crappy. Seriously, is there anyone who ever wanted a shepherding call? Ever have an elder leave your home and feel like they really did you any sort of favor (besides the leaving part)?
Ok, I sound kinda mean and I'm sure some of them meant well. I can only think of one I knew personally as a youngster who didn't seem too full of himself so there are some out there, but still, shepherding calls blew! Uplifting visits my a**.

Now that is a fricken party. My dad couldn't handle the drink but I myself am rather sociable with a decent buzz. Haven't passed out in the grass since I was under 21 though.
