galations 5:22-23--- ...the fruitage of the spirit is love,joy, peace, long-suffering, kindness, goodness, faith, mildness, self-control. against such things there is no law.

because we are mortal the time of the end is always near, we may not have until tomorrow to start exhibiting the fruitage of the spirit. if i die tonight as a jerk, the fact that i intended to do better tomorrow does not mean anything.

i've seen nothing on this site since sunday regarding a "new five page directive from headquarters.. so what happened?

just for information. i counted five mentions(sentences) in the forbes article where the term new directive was mentioned. of course you know and i know there is nothing new in it. the pda and all that other stuff came up at least two years ago. however the public, in general, may not be aware of this.

being proven right about all the things i suspected before i became a jw... i do not regret what i've done, but sometimes the degree to which my suspicions have been proven right is overwhelming... due to an extremely abusive, non jw, childhood i've never thought people(with a few exceptions)could be trusted to do anything that was in my best interest or who would not hurt me in any way neccesary to further their own petty interests. and so far i've been proven right. and yet i've always hoped that someday life would be as it could be, as it should be. the actions of the organization in general and individuals in particular have just driven another nail in the coffin that holds those hopes...the jws are not the worst thing that ever happened to me. by and large they are just another piss ant group of jerks who are way too important in their own eyes. the only power they have over us as individuals is the power we give them. i see my story in so many of the posts on this board, both the bitter and the sweet, and i want to help each and everyone but the best any of us can do is to listen and try to understand...i'm sorry if i've stumbled off the trail that is this thread but once again the thing that has hurt me the most is being proven right. i hate being right about these things...

i see that several of you use the term "apostate" or call themselves "apostates".

the problem i have with using the term is that you continue to follow wtbts thinking of "branding and labeling" people.

they charge that word with lots of negativity and label people that have different thoughts.

Saved by grace or by works?

according to the wts if we do not produce acts of good work (feild service, attending 5 meetings weekly, circuit and district assemblies etc), we are not worthy of salvation.

according to the bible, we attain salvation through god's undeserved grace ( or kindness in jw lingo).

what i am looking for is scriptural proof that will shoot down the first and support the latter.

i think you have the right idea...jehova rewards who he rewards and punishes who he punishes...my faith is that whichever i recieve will be deserved...you can never work hard enough to deserve undeserved kindness...you can never be poor enough to recieve undeserved riches.

anyone that's into to novellas or soaps should really check this site out. i've been watching it for awhile and it isn't just a 607 site it is also a site dedicated to the eradication of all apostate sites by presenting a fanatical view of the watchtower, mostly by these truly idiotic posts from the same four people who it seems are in a turf war with the e-watchmen and his evil minions from the paradise cafe. i crack up at the posts that start out saying something like...."we here at judgement.orgy will never sink to the level of name calling that those apostate,low life, skum sucking, hypocritacal, hypothetical, complete waste of human tissue at e-watchman and paradise cafe will, and now that we have our own little cess pool we completly repudiate anything we ever said or thought while were closly associated with the e-man, or as we refer to him now, e-devil. death to all apostates and heil the borg".... ok this just a paraphrase but if you have a strong stomach and a warped sense of humor, check it out.

Question for JWs still on the "inside":

just a question: if you are still jws (for any reason, many just can`t leave because their entire families are wrapped around it, etc), but don`t believe in it, and lead a "double life", how do you cope with going door to door?

i just can`t imagine how it must feel like to go out there and try to tell people at the doors or in the streets things you know are just bs!

how do you deal with that?

first of all thanks for those welcomes and a big ol' howdy from us.

to those who are shocked and dismayed that some are still leaving the magazines, i notice that at one time all of you left magazines also. isn't that what you are really shocked and dismayed over? that you may be responsible for some poor, naive, innocent person who found one of your magazines and it started them down that long slippery slope to slavery? as i said before we have all been abused, and i might add that since we are "imperfect people"(i wish i knew how to do that little tm thingie) we have all abused others. the point to being in a place like this is to stop being abused. to stop abusing. and to try to help others who in the end are pretty much in the same situation we are in, have been in, or will be in. in the origional post to this thread hellrider said he was curious as to whether we felt like hypocrites for continuing. the answer for me is no. there have been many suggestions in this thread as to handling the situation some of us find ourselves in. our method, try to take as few magazines as we can and return as many as we can. i don't think there is anything wrong with destroying them, but they don't really care what you do with them. if you give them back when they ask if anyone has any extras or old issues then they have to mess with them. the only way i would feel like a hypocrite is if i begin to abuse my fellow slaves once i am no longer in their situation.

one of the things i've noticed on threads like this....there are anti-jws that are just as hardlined, stiffnecked, and doctrinal as the most rabid bethelite lifer. if we can't listen to each other, we can't learn from each other. personaly i would rather see a few posts from thousands of posters, instead of thousands of posts from a few posters. but, that's just me. we've all been abused in some way or we would not be here. we all hope to help or we wouldn't post here. if we wanted to be abused we could always go to the kh. i realize that the abusers will not recognize themselves from what i've said, but they should. perhaps a friend could clue them in. as for how we cope? just like everyone else, the best we can.

i was raised a jw, but was never baptized.

i faded away about 20 years ago, when, at the age of 27, i decided to go to college.

you stated that jesus knew he would be raised up, but i think he believed he would be raised (or had faith in his father's promise that he would be) and it wasn't until the third day that he knew the promise was fulfilled. as far as the value is concerned ,he valued living as much as we do and he gave that up so that we could have the hope of a better future and the example of what men, and women, are capable of in their finest moment. there are so many things wrong and ugly and debased in this world and jesus died a truly horrible death but i find beauty in the fact that he acted as honorably as a person can in the face of the most horrific circumstances. i hope that in some small way we can all find some degree of that honor in ourselves. john 15:13. and despite what some might think or teach, when jesus died for his friends you and i were included.
