  RACISM Behind 1909 Watch Tower Magazine Name Change

  from 1879 through 1908, the magazine owned, operated, and edited by charles taze russell (not the zion's watch tower tract society) was offically named "zion's watch tower and herald of christ's presence".

  with several changes caused by the move from pittsburgh to brooklyn to escape maria russell, her lawyers, and the pennsylvania courts, it was decided that the official name of the magazine be changed to "the watch tower and herald of christ's presence".

  here are the official reasons for dropping the word "zion's", as stated in the december 15, 1908 issue: .

  this may be true because racism (then-now-whenever) can only be dismissed, excused, or watered down for political expediancy. true then, true now.

  who didn't, who isn't? shoulda, woulda, coulda...it is easy to criticize a policy from 100 years ago but it is also pretty much a waste of time because russell is dead, rutherford is dead, and any black african american person of color who was affected by this policy is dead...does that mean racism is dead? of course not. i can't force you to like me, i can't force you to adopt a new attitude, i can only force you to give me my legal due.

  aren't there more pressing problems with the wtbts in 2006? blood, shunning, lawyers as religious leaders, hypocrisy of all sorts at all levels, pedophiles in position of power, lust for mo' money...

  the early eleopian eunuch talked to phillip about the bible in acts.

  this is only part of it. i did a lot of research on baptism and the biggest problem i had was the policy of having to be an "unbaptized publisher"...there is not one case in the bible of anyone preaching before their baptism. not even jesus. i made a few enemies by declaring loud and long that i didn't find this scriptural and the only reason for this was a loyalty test of your intentions toward the wtbts. i made a few more enemies by refusing to do anything but go on return visits (to observe the process). of course since then i've made many other enemies...but a person is known as much by their enemies as their friends...some people have a problem with my attitude that not all in the congregation are my brothers, and as a matter fact some of them are my enemy.

  i do believe and said so many times, that as an organization they have a right to set any membership rules they care to. but, if it isn't scriptural i have not obligated myself to follow them instead of jehova. the hardliners really hate this attitude. hehehe.

  you gotta love danny...a real common man's hero. i have always used jesus as a good example of an apostate jew. what about bill bowen at silentlambs(my introduction to "apostate" sites). with all this said i've come to believe that the wtbts is the king of christian apostates...

  hi there devil dad here again its been a while i know but i have been trying to get my head round the jw but it seems im going backwards fast.

  my daughter has just been to a kind of convention of some kind for all those freaky b******s and i cannot beleve the shit what she is preaching now its just unreal i mean unreal.no disrespect for jws its like gays if they keep themselvs to themselvs its ok but she is trying to shove the jw shit down my throat every time she visits and i just dont want to hear it all the time.

  if i call them brainwashing bastards she starts to cry and tells me the end is very near and if i join the jw i will live forever (what a load of shite) and its all get.

  "...no disrespect..." i went back and read some of your previous posts, especially the "how can you" thread where it is apparrent you don't know where you are(jwd) or who you are talking to. the only respect i can find in any of your posts is an inflated respect for your own opinion. i didn't read them all so if there have been any in which you showed any respect for gays, jws, or your daughter as an individual, or for that matter anything except your own voice i will gladly go back and read them. if you knew anything about jws you would know that this attitude is rampant among the hardcore true believers and disliked by everyone else. are you sure you aren't an elder?

  if your daughter is not baptized, she is still living by your standards, married or not. if she is studying and wants to get baptized she will have to have her marital status legalized. around here that can be as simple as filing papers at the court house, no marriage ceremony is required. in this sense it is just like any organization they have rules(or laws if you will) that you obligate yourself to...or not. at any rate it is apparrent that your daughter is of an age to decide for herself. if you really want to lose your daughter then continue to demean her decisions and demand that she abide by yours...why do you think so many people are leaving the wtbts? you can accomplish the same thing with your family that the org does with theirs, just hold on to the same attitudes.

  i am having kind of a bad day.

  i know that i really should not complain... i know that i have things so much better than most people on this planet, and everyday that i wake up with my health and a roof over my head and something to eat, i am having a great day compared to most.

  it makes me think... why do i even bother throwing them out?

  Franz and a "New" Witness Organization?

  this strikes me as typical "apostate phobia propaganda" - but a "witness" just told me that ray franz started a "new order of jehovah's witnesses" after he was disfellowshipped.. is there any truth to this?

  there is a group that call themselves reform jehovah's wittnesses, there is also a group called the future judgement jehovah's witnesses but i don't think ray franz has anything to do with them.

  in the may 15, 2002 watchtower under the questions from the readers---WOULD IT BE ADVISABLE FOR A TRUE CHRISTIAN TO ATTEND A FUNERAL OR A WEDDING IN A CHURCH? our taking part in any form of false religion is displeasing to jehovah and must be avoided (2 corinthians 6:14-17; revealation 18:4)....

  ...a christian must carefully weigh all the factors involved. under certain circumstances he or she may conclude that no difficulties would arise from attending a church funeral or wedding as an observor. however, the circumstances may be such that by attending, the likely injury to one's own conscience or to that of others would outweigh the possible benifits of being presemt. whatever the situation, the christian should make sure that the decision will not interfere with his preserving a good conscience before god and men.

  you will have to study a little deeper than this to get a grip on what this actually means in real world. ask about things like "theocratic warfare" and "shunning" in relationship to "matters of conscience". if you use jwd as a resource you will learn much grasshopper.

  i found this particular article in the 'questions from readers' section of the april 15th 2006, watchtower, incredibly shallow and non specific.

  it did not define what a jw was to consider a 'demon attack' and could well explain why the average jw considers their car breaking down, on their way to fs an out and out attack from satan and his deemunz!.

  for a short time we pastured in a house that totally appeared to have a demonic personality. but it would be impossible to convince anyone of the reality of this. i guess it could have been the drugs or it could have been because the sheep were not getting along or it could have been any of a thousand things. but, the sheep know it was demons.

  getting rid of "demonized" objects brought in? that attitude would pop up around here occassionally, until one sheep pointed out to the other sheep, that if you wanted to see statues to different gods all you had to do was look in the publications. one of us has always had a thing about crosses, even pre-jw, i was able to find a watchtower with 5 crosses on the cover page. why would any one think that it is reasonable that a painting with 5 crosses is demonized but a magazine with 5 crosses on the cover couldn't possibly be, because it is provided by the watchtower bible and tract society.

  because of our life experiences we believe there are spirits, called demons, and they can have negative physical, mental, and spiritual effects on us if not on others. what they are exactly we don't know, but we also don't know what a proton or neutron is. in fact you could fill a very large space with the knowledge we don't possess ...lol...

  "born in the truth" - "annointed" - "just get over it" - "imperfect men" - "appointed by holy spirit" - "only a publisher"(as opposed to "pioneer" "ministerial servant" "elder" "overseer") -and one we haven't heard in a while " found by the annointed" - and finally "love in the congregation"---and really finally "the world does that,but we don't do that do we brothers?"
