It is being reported that Katie Holmes used a disposable cell phone to start the divorce with Tom Cruise. Spies, spies, and lies.

No more 3-day DCs starting in 2013?
by respectful_observer inapologies if there is another recent thread on this, but i have heard from 4 different people in 3 different geographic areas (including someone who does advance work for the dcs), that beginning in 2013 the three day dc program will be replaced by a second two-day circuit assembly.
some people were passing the info along like a secret, others seemed to think that everyone already knew.. if everyone in j-dub land is already talking about this, how is it not all over this forum??.
anyway, can anyone confirm or deny?.

An 8 day vacation in NYC, that would be several thousand for a family of four!
Even 3 days in a hotel room is easily $300, plus food in restaurants. That's alot of money! Especially for a group that doesn't want higher education!

How all cults are run:
Rule #1) The leader(ship) speaks for God. Convince all new recruits (and constantly remind the flock) of this "fact".
Rule #2) The leader(ship) tells all to "sit down, shut up, or else." See Rule #1.
You begin to see how easily the Koolaid could go down.....

I'm not an expert in ADA law. Wish I was now. I do know that it applies to new construction and to renovations. Old buildings are grandfathered.
Renting a public stadium. Stadiums have steep steps. I don't know how sisters in high heels do it. One slip, and you can really hurt yourself (and others). JWN has had threads on people getting hurt/dying at DCs. Here's some proof. I wonder if the WTS has a database of accidents occuring at various locations, and if public stadiums are more risky.
When the WTS holds a public stadium, I imagine that it uses the stadium's bleachers and chairs? Or,does the WTS use its own?
The WTS's liability may be in that they did not have enough offer enough seating for the disabled (i.e.not providing access). Or, what if the bleachers were really the Watchtower's (or rented from a third party)?
Now, what I wonder is what moving the DCs to assembly halls? I've not been in an AH since 1986, when one was being built west of Ft. Lauderdale. Are they "safer"(i.e. carpeted, less stairs, more access for disabled)? The WTS can "control" their own assembly hall better then a stadium. Just like they can't control a book study's house....
But most of all, the Victors (JWs who transported and brought the old woman to the DC) are in a pickle. What's that old saying, no good deed goes unpunished? The lawsuit appear to be saying that the Victors were agents of the WTS. I don't know if the Victors were elder/MS or just a regular "minister." They brought the old woman to the DC, got the hotel room, found her a seat, helped her with the stairs, and suggested the group leave early to avoid the rush at the end of the day, etc. The dead woman's family is saying that the Victors owed a duty to the old woman. But, the Victors are fighting back by replying they are just attendies. Sounds like Candice Conti's case. . . . and Victoria, Aust. The Plaintiffs are trying to get at the rank and file "ministers". In Conti (and Austrailia?), it was determined that the WTS is responsible for the rank & file "ministers"?
So, now, all you lurking "ministers", keep this new case in mind when you invite to bring someone to any meeting. You could be sued if something goes wrong.

There is a new lawsuit filed against the Watchtower. The case is 12-1641 United States District Court of the Eastern District of Louisiana ("Maddox v. Integro Insurance Brokers, Christian Congregation of New York, Christian Congregation of Jehovah's Witneses, Inc. and Victors").
From reading some of the court documents, this is what I gather happened...
A JW couple, the Victors, drove an elderly person to the District Convention. The DC was at apparently at the Mitchell Center at the University of South Alabama on July 1-3, 2011,
At the DC, the Victors and elderly woman tried to find a seat for in the elderly section at the bottom floor. But the attendant said that there was no seat. So, they went back into the stands and found a seat. Unfortunately, when the group left taking the stairs, the elderly woman slipped and fell. The injuries led to her death. Her family is now suing the WTS & the JWs who took her to the convention.
The lawsuit appears to be suing under the American with Disability/Fair access type laws, as well as tort laws, requiring special care and access for anyone who needs it.
.....
I don't have the full court documents yet. Stay tuned.
But, could this case be the reason the WTS wants to move all conventions to their facilities?

Well, Mr. Murdoch. I sent you several JW storys that were also "creepy & evil" but you didn't run them!!!
Perhaps Mr. Murdoch will learn more about cults and he will be a flash point to information! Wouldn't THAT be grand.

Rupert Murdoch: Scientologists ‘creepy, maybe even evil’
By Dylan Stableford, Yahoo! News | The Lookout – 7 hrs ago

Rupert Murdoch, New Corp. chief executive and outspoken octogenarian media mogul, took to Twitter on Sunday to weigh in on the breakup of Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes. And Murdoch's tweets about Scientology sparked a big backlash.
"Scientology back in news," Murdoch tweeted. "Very weird cult, but big, big money involved with Tom Cruise either number two or three in [hierarchy]."
The owner of Fox News, Wall Street Journal and New York Post followed the "cult" comment with another tweet.
"Watch Katie Holmes and Scientology story develop," Murdoch wrote. "Something creepy, maybe even evil, about these people."
While Cruise is often associated with Viacom's Paramount Pictures, the Los Angeles Times noted, he has also starred in films for 20th Century Fox--the studio owned by News Corporation--and is "known for being prickly about being challenged about his involvement with Scientology."
Murdoch, though, is standing by his comments.
"Since Scientology tweet hundreds of attacks," he wrote later. "Expect they will increase and get worse and maybe threatening. Still stick to my story."
After a user asked Murdoch for his thoughts on Mormonism, he responded: "Mormonism a mystery to me, but Mormons certainly not evil."
Earlier Sunday, Murdoch used Twitter to criticize Mitt Romney's campaign.
"Met Romney last week," Murdoch wrote. President Obama's reelection campaign--comprised of "tough" Chicago political veterans--will be tough to beat, Murdoch added, unless Romney "drops old friends from team and hires some real pros. Doubtful."
It's not the first time the 81-year-old has expressed his doubts about Romney's electability. Last week, Murdoch tweeted: "When is Romney going to look like a challenger? Seems to play everything safe, make no news except burn off Hispanics."
