i finally found one good thing about growing up a witness and not getting to go to college.
because neither my wife nor myself ever went past high school that makes our daughter eligible for a program sponsored by the bill and melinda gates foundation.
she is 14. in 4 years from now when she should be graduating high school she will have two years of college under her belt, at no cost to me.
I love the idea of high school teaching college classes. I had college prep classes in high school, and they (and my schedule) was HARDER then my 1st and 2nd year of college.

i admit to being a lurker for quite some time before joining and now i am ready to post and i want to introduce myself.
i am/was 3rd generation and daughter of the po (as it was termed at the time) for most of my life.

i have learned a lot about cults on this site and cannot thank you all enough for helping me get a sense of what is going on with my jw acquaintance.
as it turns out, another friend of mine told me she goes to the hare krishna temple.
she is a wonderful person, and we have been spending time together having long conversations.

well this afternoon as i sit here i am calm but my heart is literally aching.
i am sitting here with my young daughter on my shoulder.
i guess you could say i spilled the beans to my wife this afternoon.

I tried for a few years just to tell my JW family a few of the points you raised, and only to get the "It's the Truth, the closest thing out there" argument.
Then, I came to a realization. THEY NEED the religion as much as the religion needs them. Each of my JW family members are seriously broken people. They MUST cling to the Truth, because it is ALL they have. For my elderly parent, it would be too cruel to take him away from it. For, it would be a realization that he wasted his life. It gives him a social structure. THe more the JWs have vested in the Truth, the harder they will stay in it.
I suggest you totally lay low with all JWs on JW matters. Go to a meeting here & there to help them realize that you are not against God.
Perhaps if you do discuss anything at all, discuss only injustices with your wife. Pedophilia and spouse abuse should hit a nerve with her. Discuss it with your daughter in mind.

I made the "Eggs in Chick" this weekend for breakfast. It didn't take long at all. Perhaps 20 seconds an egg. Everyone smiled at breakfast - even the tween!
Hard boil egg. Quarter a slice of carrot for nose. Put carrot slice in boiling egg water to cook enough to take the crunch out, but not mushy.
Peel egg. Make criss-cross slits on white, just to the egg yolk (you'll feel it with the knfe). Gently pull off upper top.
Find something for eyes. I used chocolate sprinkle. Attach carrot nose.

The Japaneese farmer's wife lovingly packed a bento box for her husband to take with him in the fields. Today, bento boxes are made by doting mothers and between lovers as an expression of love. As they are small, portioned control meals, many lose weight if they eat "Bento" style. If you see a "Lunchable" - that's a Bento Box (but an unhealthy one).
