ever since american prisoners of war in korea suddenly switched sides to the communist cause, the concept of brainwashing has continued to fascinate and confuse.

Have not read it. Did not see it reviewed in the current academic literature.

It appears to be a revision(?) or a re-release(?) as it was initially published in 1983.

It was, evidently, reviewed in "British Book News" July 1983 p414 but that publication is not available to me (or others?) on-line.

On the 1930 census, Bonnie claimed to be 31 years old, and thus presented herself as born in 1899-1900.

One caveat is that, at times, census enumerators would call at a home and not everyone (or even no one) would be present. Rather than make a “return visit,” the enumerator might have asked the person who was home (or a neighbor) the name and age of the other, not-at-home, residents.

Not that the analysis is incorrect, just that we are always uncertain as to who supplied the information to an enumerator.

Ironic hypocrisy of Bethel "service"

i normally let people make their own decisions with a very hands off approach, but after reading the "living together in bethel" (or whatever the name of the piece of crap book is) i need to vent a bit.. anyone here is very familiar with the "quit your job or at least cut way back" talks that we were subjected to seemingly every other week.

after all, good dubz need time to prepare, attend, pioneer etc.

a good friend of mine left her job at an insurance co. to pioneer.

Perhaps it is the "Dwelling Together in Unity" book issued to Bethel workers.

Survey/Psych Paper Results

thank you to everyone who participated in my jw adolescent survey for my developmental psychology term paper!

several were interested in how it turned out, so here are some of the findings from the survey.

from those that responded, fewer jw adolescents (about half as much) took illegal drugs and had sex than the average teen.
