  If I wanted a new boss (same as the old boss) I would not have left the religion to begin with.

  Lots of folks have assisted others. A couple of years after leaving (or at least PIMO), I found H2O and there were myriads and myriads of warriors that assisted.

  What has John Cedars added that is unique to the chorus that has come long before him? Understood that he helped you personally (a good thing) but doubtful many active JWs are watching his videos ...but I don't know....maybe they are. He comes across, to me, as smarmy and car-salesman-ish ...but that's just me.

  As several have mentioned, that's the last thing any of us need.... a new "charismatic" thought leader....and one who needs just a little more money to reach others to an even greater extent.

  Slang or Terms Only Used by Bethelities

  there are many terms used at bethel that might sound foreign to normal people.

  there are many words or terms used at bethel that are unique only to their organization.

  here are just a few of them.. “a jack” this is someone who is a slacker or just lazy.. “a pot licker” this term has been used for many years but its connotation is unclear.

  "Flag Brother"
  
  Someone who hopper shopped, or had a field day in "donated," would assemble an outfit with many colors that resembled a "flag."
  

  Usually it'd be a new boy and the term was probably as much a comment on their new boy status as it was on their fashion sense.

  Sometimes, it seems, brothers would come from very poor backgrounds and the opportunity to parade in "new" clothes trumped any fashion sense they might have had.

  It was derogatory and unkind but....heard it many times. I worked in 25-30 so would pass through donated area often (especially when it was poor weather).

  Is it just me or are the street sign, road,car verification excessive?

  i must go through six of new verification screens on average before verifying.

  i seriously try harder and harder, i don't know if we include the tiny little piece of sign or not.

  i have done both,and still get another screen.

  Beyond annoying. I constantly clear cookies, history, cache, etc. (every session) which, as noted, means I have to sign in to this site again...so I rarely do. If I send or receive a PM, I log in.
  

  Some sites have very simple CAPTCHA "challenges" so perhaps one can set "level of difficulty" or something? For example, some sites have only numbers that are visually distorted.

  I'm guessing there is a good reason to have a CAPTCHA at the gate of this site (?) but...it does lessen the likelihood of signing in, for me at least.
  

  My bank has several layers of authentication (credentials and the answer to a "secret" question). Perhaps that would be a more acceptable (or at least a less frustrating) solution?

  Just Bumped Into My JW Sister And Brother In Town

  so im walking through town today on my lunchbreak and spot the unmistakable walk of my younger brother.

  this is the one who left watchtower... well it turns out he's returned to the vomit after stupidly turning up to the 2017 convention and a few elders filling his head with seeing our dead dad in paradise and to "wait on jehovah".. a few meters behind him was my sister.

  she spotted me first, then hurried up her step to my brother.

  I have to agree with LongHairGal...after a certain amount of time (years?) you'll be "relieved to not be bothered with Witnesses."

  My sister and brother both "shun" me, although they were able to say "sorry for your loss" to me at our sister's funeral. I didn't respond. It was their sister also and I suspect they were putting on a show for the rest of the family, none of whom are JWs... although my mom flirts with it enough to keep the JW siblings hopeful (guessing).
  
  At any rate, I've read your posts and you seem to be one of those who will be successful.... even if you have to "fake it to make it" on occasion.

  While I don't know you at all, I am confident that you are in a better place being shunned by JWs than being a JW.... regardless of the cost.

  David_Jay's explanation is correct. Score is not the qualification; it is percentile.

  My grandmother and mother were/are members so I joined after exiting. Chapters vary as they are made of people who vary. While I've done very little with the group (scored some scholarship essays, etc.), I enjoy the publications.

  It has never been my experience that Mensans think they're "special" or whatever. It can be difficult to find others with like abilities at times so....the round table makes sense.

  Since I have so little to do with the group (other than reading the publications), I often found it difficult to justify the dues so I became a life member.
  
  There are some obviously bright folks on this board and elsewhere. Mensans certainly don't have the "intelligent interaction" market cornered.

  I need to help to counter JW misinformation!

  in this yahoo answers quesiton jw apologists are trying to give the impression that the watchtower never published any information about parents fondling the genitals of their infants leading to masturbation later on.

  the jw apologists claims vary from saying it's not true to accusing the questioner and one ex-jw answerer of not having proof and being untrustworthy with the truth.. i want to provide proof to the contrary but the online library doesn't go have magaizes as far back as 1973 when the article was published.

  i think that the best proof would be a screenshot of the watchtower library open to the article with the statement highlighted.

  I also was seduced by the evil weed (and similar evil pursuits), disclosed it on the application, and was accepted. While at Brooklyn, I met many who had similarly been cannabis-corrupted (although not certain whether they disclosed it or not).

  Marijuana use (and worse) didn't seem to be a disqualifier.... at least not in the early 1980s and at least not in my case.
