Like SS, my views have changed, but not any actual activity (I'm still a virgin, but hey, I'm still young ).
Vivamus, do you plan on telling us your answer?
i am being very serious here, i am having some thoughts on the subject of sex.
what is it that determines the way you view sex?
is it upbringing, or genes?
Like SS, my views have changed, but not any actual activity (I'm still a virgin, but hey, I'm still young ).

as with anyone associated with jehovahs witnesses the worst possible news anyone can have is being df.
it means a loss of everyone and everything you have known all your life.
Geez Bill, all I can say is *wow*.
What you did took balls of steel and a heart of gold.
You left on your own terms, and no matter what slander may come to your name, you know you did the right thing, we know you did the right thing, the voiceless victims know you did the right thing, and if some deity exist he knows you did the right thing as well. Hell, a Kingdom Hall is one of the last places I would volunteer to go, but I would have payed money to see you there last night . This will not be forgotten by JW's, but unfortuneately I'm sure some unflattering embellishments will ensue. Once again, I appreciate your courage, and thanks for standing up for the "silentlambs".
the following piece of misleading wt thinking was emailed to me recently by a close friend see what you think.
the following words are plaguerised from another person, but i did feel they should be posted.
""under the title "is it wrong to pronounce gods name?
Putting LORD in place of the tetragramatton does not change the meaning of the text. We all know which deity the bible is referring to when it uses the term. It's like saying my referring to my mother as MOM instead of by her first name (which pronounciation is not in question ), somehow changes the dynamic of her personhood, or obscures who she is. That simply isn't true. Also, as Farkel brought out in his post, if the exact pronounciation of the Tetragramatton was such a big deal to your god, don't you think he would have made sure it was preserved? And to top it off, in every bible translation I have read, the translators always make it clear that the term LORD is a substitute for the Tetragramatton, which could be pronounced as Yahweh or Jehovah, but which pronounciation is not truly known (hence the reason for the term LORD). There is no conspiracy to take god's name out of the bible as the JW religion would have you believe; alot of people are aware of Yahweh or Jehovah. The translators just choose not to be presumptious on the issue.

Is there a later rebroadcast of the show that night?
i just read with interest an article entitled yoga - just an exercise or something more?
in the august 1, 2002 watchtower.. i know that growing up a witness i had always been told that yoga was related to spiritism and the occult.
however, with the popularity of yoga among the mainstream in recent years as a means to keep fit not as a means to find spiritual enlightment, i thought the society may have lightened up a bit.
I too had a good laugh when reading that article. I remember having a discussion with one of my (inactive "in the truth") relatives about this issue a couple of months ago. She gave me the same crappy answer about demons entering your mind when you are meditating. I told her that your brain is never truly "empty" or inactive, since if it were we would die . Also if she were mainly referring to "consciousness", I asked her why we weren't being constantly attacked by demons in our sleep, or when sedated (in surgery)? I generally dismissed her thinking, but that recent JW article basically brought up all those assinine arguments. It's like demons have absolutely nothing to do except attack "Jehovah's people". Shouldn't they be having sex with women or something ? As for the people who accomplish "incredible feets", perhaps chemical processes in the brain are responsible for people walking over coals (in a somewhat quick manner), and not demons?
The "Nimrod connection" was the funniest part for me. Imagine the "hunter of animals and men" getting all flexible and nimble on his yoga mat . Hey, after a hard days work of building the Tower of Babel, a man needs to relax . Also, this shows how JW's are so clueless about world history. If this image that they spoke of went back more than 4,000 years, then it couldn't be Nimrod now could it? Hell, they seem to ignore the fact that civilizations existed before the alledged time they date Adam & Eve (6,027 y.a.). Maybe Nimrod didn't exist, and his story is a myth and legend (gasp!), perhaps even based on stuff from the evil "yoga people"? Their theory that all of man's civilizations sprang up after the alledged Tower of Babel incident ~4,000 y.a. is totally unsupported by available evidence, anyway. Maybe if there were an Asian GB member, this yoga rule would change .
i somehow have had my subscription run out .
i'm curious if anyone could post scans of it?.
just wondering - my m-i-l receives several 'new age' treatments, and if the society printed an article specifically against yoga, i'm curious if they might have mentioned any other 'new age' practices.... anyone?
Check out this thread, Xander:

i am a newbie here and was wondering if anyone new if a cd rom is availible for jw literature from 1917 to 1949?.
any ideas?
i have the 1995 cd which covers 1950 to 1995, and i have the berean bible studies cd which covers.
Sorry man, but even the 1999 edition does not carry anything before 1950. I think there will be a new CD rom out soon, but I'm pretty sure it will be no different than the last two.
How did you get the CD rom with the 1879-1917 WT's, BTW? Is it available to the general public?
what is all the fuss about?
when i was still assimilated (i.e.
still in the borg, but wanting out every second of that time), there was so much emphasis put on microphone handling that it was almost unreal.
Ahh SYN, you're bringing back memories, man .
Well, due to my very anemic field service time, I've been deleted from "microphone handling", and I bearly get a talk number 2 ever now (good ). However, I guess I was a bit of a "prodigy", as I got the priveldge of microphone handling at age 8; 4 years before my baptism and in a large congregation with an ample amount of brothers. Obviously, this was a cause of great pride for me and my parents at the time. However, even in my "holy days" I loved microphone handling because it removed the burden of having to comment in the meeting. Sure, you could if you wanted to, but if you didn't you wouldn't have to hear the "friends" tell you after meeting "I missed your comment today". Now that I no longer handle the mics, I find it a lot easier to blow off meetings, and especially to arrive at meeting late. I can gladly do without that "priveledge", and if I don't comment at the few meetings I still attend, I don't care anymore (hell, my non attendance is so normal now I don't get the irritating "we missed you at the last meeting" speil ).
I also had the same last minute talk quandary once, SYN. I came into the hall just after the 1st talk began, for some strange reason I looked at the school schedule and saw that my name was up for that night! (I forgot about the slip, too ) I was lucky that it was a 2nd school talk, as no one asked for my talk slip in advance, and I could afford to have a slopier talk . Well, I made my talk in all of 7 minutes (before the 1st talk finished which was already in progress when I came in), and got G's on my counsel points! I got lots of congratulations after meeting on how "well researched" my talk was (I had some old Watchtower points logged into my memory that I was able to use). I can't fathom for the life of me how people find TMS assignments hard, especially talk no. 2.
some months ago i took my annual vacation to the land of kangaroos--you know--where men are men and sheep are skittish?
as a social commentator i have a vested interest observing cultural changes and trends, etc.
in the professions and trades in oz the genders dress as androgynous as their counterparts in the us.
Man, we should get Mr. Moe angry more often if it means getting flooded with her "masculine" pictures . Stay mad for as long as you want, Moe.
I'm with the beer and popcorn guys, BTW .

i think you know where i'm headed with this....... i just don't understand how many praise our economic system and yet it leaves millions behind.
it denies many necessities from many people all for the sake of the comforts of the rich nations.
Bendrr, I fail to see your point on the tax burden issue. If the top 50% control about 94% of the wealth, then it's only fair that they should pay that much of the taxes. I agree with you on the fact that everyone pays too much taxes, but even with less taxes, the tax burden should be weighted correctly. As far as being a Communist, no I'm not, but I'm also not an oligarchist. Asking the rich to pay their fair share in an economy which favours them greatly (they get more "welfare" than anyone else) is all I ask. Oh BTW, there are "cradle to grave" benefits in many Western European countries, and the human rights and economies are pretty solid (I'm not a "cradle to grave" benefits advocate), so the end result of such a system isn't always mass murder and a broken economy.
Analysis, I guess you're right about some of the points you brought out. If I'm not mistaken though, some states have/are setting up independent medical reviewers who can overrule an HMO's decision if they deem that the patient really does need a treatment that the HMO originally ruled no on. If the government were to have a health system, I suppose they'd have to set up a national review board which would review patient appeals (they'd have to have the kind of independence the judicial system has, I guess). The point of the system would to ensure that every citizen has access to quality health care, and not just those with lots of money. In a capitalist system, there will always be poor people. While they shouldn't have the guaranteed right to vacation in the Pacific every year, (to paraphrase Al Gore )I think it's only fair that they shouldn't have to choose between their next meal and quality health care.
