  Sox, Cubs......I Believe

  i believe in curses.

  the billygoat.

  the bambino.. the sox just lost to the yankees 6-5 after leading by three in the 8th.. we all know what happened to the cubs.. and i believe in the rally monkey too, from last year's angels (though i guess he's looking for work these days, poor little fella).. this is all in kidding, but it does make me wonder.....are some teams "cursed"?

  I must however give the game ball (I know they don't really give those in baseball ) to Grady Little, for managing the worst inning of his career. Did he expect to go out and have Pedro say "I'm out of juice, skip. I'll do the responsible thing and proceed to the bench so that a well rested reliever can finish the game for me"? Grady should have yanked him when he went out there to talk to him; the Boston bullpen has been lights out in the postseason (excepting game 1 versus the Athletics). With that said, I'm still proud that my team won. I would have liked to have seen the Yankees beat up on the Cubs in the World Series, but the Marlins will work just fine as well .

  washington - the supreme court said tuesday it will decide whether the pledge of allegiance recited by generations of american schoolchildren is an unconstitutional blending of church and state.

  the case sets up an emotional showdown over god in the public schools and in public life.

  Agreed. While I thought the 9th Circuit's decision was quite correct, I thought it would have been best if they had just left the pledge alone. The "under god" part just isn't that big a deal, IMO, and it seems like more people care that it's in there than people caring that it's not. The Supreme Court will most likely reverse the decision. People are too attached to their personal religious beliefs to see such an issue clearly.

  Monday Night Football

  wow...i watched most of the colts vs. bucs game last night and i have to say that was possibly one of the best games i have seen in a long time.

  3 touchdowns in 4 minutes!

  and a wobbly field goal to win the game....it was a fun watch.. sincerely,.

  I was more into the Red Sox/ A's game than the MNF game. Are the A's ever going to get out of the 1st round?

  I turned to the MNF game afterward, looked at the score, and turned to something else. Then a couple hours later I turn to Sportscenter, and realized that I missed the greatest comaback of all time (I had watched the incredible comback between the Jets and Dolphins a few years ago, but I probably stayed with that game because my team was involved). The Red Sox/ A's ending was pretty good, but I missed something even better .

  But for my money, the best announcing team going is the #1 FOX-TV team of Joe Buck, Troy Aikman and Cris Collinsworth. The booth is electric with those 3 gentlemen present!!

  Those three are good, but I personally like the CBS team of Greg Gumbel and Phil Simms slightly better. However, with the way the Jets season is going I may not hear that team doing any of my teams games . Am I the only person who didn't really mind Dennis Miller on MNF (except maybe for his opening comments before the games) ?

  as a jehovah's witness, you know that you cannot practice homosexuality.

  it's considered a sin.

  if your friend or relative revealed that they were gay, you would be obligated to "report" them to the elders.

  It wouldn't bother me at all. Except (if I had a child) in the sense that Xena mentioned. I would be concerned about how they were received by others and, if it were negative reception, how that would affect them, but they wouldn't have to worry about my reaction.

  Princess won her race yesterday

  Ummmmm, women think a tiny bit about sex too but it's no secret that it's on mens minds constantly.

  Ever notice how slowly we bend over to pick something up? Or how loose that buttoned blouse is so that when we bend over slowly you get a nice long look at a couple of the prizes that are so near yet so far away?

  Think tight shorts are comfortable?

  And I thought women were supposed to be more enlightened than men .

  Football predictions for "egg chasers" (NFL)

  well, the upcoming nfl season is about to start in two days, with my team the new york jets being involved in the opening game.

  now i was a little discouraged when our starting qb chad pennington (the best in the nfl) went down earlier in the preseason with an injury that will keep him out for more than half the season, but fortunately for the jets, they're one of the few nfl teams with a backup qb that can be a quality starter, so i don't expect that we will have much of a drop off with vinny testaverde taking the reigns temporarily.

  he'll surpass 40,000 career passing yards this year, and he also has a stronger arm than does pennington, so look for deep plays to the wide receivers.

  at least you can take comfort in the fact that they definitely wont lose this week.

  Sadly, this is true.

  Granted, so things are getting a little desperate, but the Jets did start out 1-4 last year, and a win in their next game versus Buffalo will put them back on that track (epsecially since last years 1-4 start had its sole win courtesy of the Bills). I'm certainly not maximally optimistic, but hope must be kept alive .

  Bencing Vinny would be mistake, IMO. You can't lay the blame of the poor start at his feet. Conway and Chrebet screwed up 2 TD passes at New England which would have led to a win, and the fumbles the Jets had yesterday cost them on good drives. I think the "blame Vinny first" crowd need to recognize that with such bad plays, even Chad Pennington wouldn't be doing much better (except maybe for in the Washington game, where rust on Vinny's part may have played a part in the loss).

  I agree with you about Conway, and especially so about Paul Hackett. Apparently he does not realize that he has a player in Santana Moss languising away his talent. Conway better not drop another damn pass, either.
