What is the deal with "greediness"?
by daystar ini don't recall this word being used all that much when i was a dub.
but i've seen people comment on this a bit lately.
so... sinning "with greediness" is different than other forms of sinning?

Maybe people aren't contributing enough lately...thus they are greedy and they are sinning.

Looking for some advice
by MuadDib ini'm a young man raised in the jws, been meaning to get the hell out of dodge for a few years now (basically ever since starting a history degree and learning why the jw conception of history, science, and indeed of reality is so utterly nonsensical, in addition to having discovered girls and fun).
i have no qualms about leaving the organization, i don't care what the elders or anyone else think about my decision - with the exception of my family.
i love my family deeply and i know that my decision will really hurt them, especially my mother (a full-time pioneer), and this is making me hesitate to do what i know needs to be done in addition to causing me a lot of worry and stress.

It's a sticky situation. I slowly faded (or so I thought) my sis is the one that went to the elders and told them what she thought that I was doing (clubbing, got my tongue pierced, drinking and faling in love with the greatest guy, how she found out I'm not all that sure) and they came after me. Even though I hadn't been to a meeting in over a year and hadn't been out in service in 1.5 years. So I think that no matter what approach you take they will notice and they will wonder what's up. It's hard not to be close to your family. My older sister (the one that squealed) has a lil boy and I have never seen him and I most likley never will, unless I repent and admitt that I have sinned and have an apoligetic attitude and try to prove myself to MEN that I am sorry. It's crazy, the only people that I need to have approval from is me and who I think God is.
Good Luck, I hope that you are able to figure out what is going to work best for you and for your family. You may just want to think about what it would be like to be shunned by them all (I am) and how much it will hurt (just preparation). It's no use living your life to please someone else while you are miserable. -

Another newbie
by jessthebull ini just wanted to introduce myself, i have been lurking around for a while reading posts and identifying with so many of the experiences within them.
i have only stopped going to the meetings in the last year and it is only in the last couple of months that i have really started to research this "religion" that has been such a huge part of my life.
i dont live at home any more but am still in regular contact with my jw family and one or two friends.

I'm a newbie too, nice to meet you. I'm so glad that I found this site, it's such a great feeling to know that I'm not the only black sheep out there. It's also nice to have support, I've been dealing with so many issues about this religion on my own. So welcome and I look forward to reading more of your posts.

To Rebel or not to Rebel? that is the question!
by freedomlover ini am truly looking for your honesty on this issue...not that i think any of you have been dishonest - i just don't want the sugar coated version of pollyanna lines.. i have spoken about this subject privately with one of you - ;) - and also with my hubby.
however, i'm wondering if i'm in the minority here when i bring this subject up.
being raised a jw i had to be so straight for so long.

Yeah it hurt like a sonofabitch! It takes forver to heal, at least mine did. I have had it for 9mths and it still itsn't all the way healed. It still gets infected and I put in a nose bone (stud on the outside and a lil bump on the inside) well the hole has closed up around the bar and I can't get it out. DAMN! and of course the lil jewel fell out and so I have an ugly piece of metal in my nose...lol. If you do get it done stick with nose screws, they are a pain in the arse because they move around and it always looks like you have a giant booger trying to escape, but that way the hole doesn't close up any. The piercing itself isn't all that bad, makes your eyes water, it's afterwards when you scratch your nose and get your finger caught on the stud and you rip it part way out...been there, done that. OUCH! Be sure to clean it as you are told to...good luck and enjoy!

I think that they do. When my hubby and I first got together he had a cat that he had raised since a kitten. She is a spoiled rotten little b*tch and she hated me right off the bat. She clawed up the most expensive purse that I ever bought and she ate my shoes from England. I'm thinking that she was jealous, because she would always sleep with my man, but when I stayed over she got locked out of the room. She would just give me hateful looks (if that makes any sense). It's as if we were competing for his attention (I’m a Leo….). In the end I won (t-hee), when I got preggers with our newest addition she went to live with his mom. I feel bad for her, but glad that she can’t tear up my stuff and leave cat hair ALL over the house.

Howdy Cruznheart, I'm from the Houston area...darn it. It would be interesting to get together with you guys though. I know that my husband would really enjoy it. He loves talking about all this stuff, he asks me questions and I'm like "....duh, I have no idea". Maybe if I had paid more attention at the brain washings I never wouild have left....lmao! No I'm sure that I still would have.
