You've got mail ! There is a new mail service in our town, it is similar to a "Thelma and Louise type event". Arwen finally put the finishing touches on her disassociation letters and I instructed her to "get in the car". Off we went in MY car (her car would be recognized ) with her driving and me with one foot hanging out of the car ready to run to the next house and deliver the LETTER to the next mailbox. This was all the while hoping no one would see me dropping something in their mailbox and opening the door, but I would have said " I was just in the neighborhood and would like to share this contents of this envelope with you!" She parked a couple of houses away from impending recipient of the envelope and I scooted across lawns and ducked behind trees to make my delivery. One was delivered at a very busy place of business, I sauntered in and stuck the envelope by the cash register and sauntered out. The kingdom hall was the recipient of two envelopes and although there were cars in the parking lot, I managed to drop the letters into the mailbox. .We were so busy looking for addresses that we went 2 blocks on a one way street (the wrong way). We were on the verge of hysteria (you would have to understand our sense of humor when under stress) when this was brought to our attention. At one point I said to Arwen, pretending to interview her, "Soooooooo, would you like to share your emotions at this time? How do you feel now?" she responded with a southern drawl " I feel the scales have been lifted from my eyes!!" In all seriousness, I am very glad that the task is finished. Now she can relax and not be concerned if she meets up with the jws as she knows they wont be approaching her or visiting her. They had a jw couple visit the house last week, although she avoided them, it really shook her up,,,,,,, so I said " LETS GIT ER DONE! (disassociation letter). -- If it wasnt for the support on this board, I don't know how her freedom would be accomplished.- gladdy(meljon)

I disassociated myself today....June 8, 2006
by arwen ini wrote a letter to some personal friends in the congregation and enclosed the letter from the un.
i also wrote a short disassociation letter to four elders and enclosed the un letter as well.
i delivered them to the mailboxes and also mailed a couple.

read somewhere that jws "hide" their members who have been reported as sexually assaulting children, and other members. Did you ever hear of this? Do they report an incident to the authorities such as sexual assault?

Most churchs give something back into the community, volunteer work, charitable organizations support. The kingdom hall is not a church as we know it, gives NOTHING to the community and are very isolated, no one is welcome there without an invite, etcc,,,,, do you know anything about this cult? I do not want them in my community because they are jws --------- plain and simple! I would make the same stand against a topless or strip club or hells angels club, etc. I am using the rezoning and no tax facts to bring the attention to the people of the community, then they can find out the rest, it may make them want to look on boards like this,,,,,,,,

there will be another town meeting in a couple of weeks, then they take the concerns to the council members and they vote on it. I hope you and hubby will be at the next one with me! I just asked the man questions, he didnt respond when I said "only you and your wife live in this area"

I just finished typing the events of the town meeting and pressed the wrong key and it all flew into cyberspace! Here I go again, I attended the meeting at our town hall, it was very crowded as they were three subjects to be presented. the first was jws. They had a large placard with all kinds of pictures of kingdom halls on it,. they kept repeating how clean it would be. I asked how much would they pay in taxes toward our lovely town? He replied none, we do not pay taxes on a place of worship. I then asked how many of his congregation live in our town? He replied maybe families, I then stated, I have researched this and it was only him and his wife that reside in our town. He did not respond to this, I then asked was he ever involved it the decisions made in our town by voting? He said no the jws dont vote, and i said not federal or provincial or municipal? He said no. ( I then wondered how his deodorant was holding up.) I also asked if any of our children might use this building for scouts or soccer meetings, and he replied NO , we do not rent rooms, and I said, I didnt mean rent I meant FREE to our community use , and he said no.we dont do that. I then stated that I didnt believe that this rezoning from a commercial to institutional would benefit our town for a group of people that do not give anything back to the community. His young clean as a whistle sidekick then stated "jws all pay taxes' and I said only two in MY town. I suggested that this group needs to be investigated thoroughly and people understand what it would mean to have a kingdom hall in our community, it would be close to our new town hall which houses a large gym and promotes sports in our town. Also some government offices are there along with all the town offices. I passed out some material on the facts that I presented, noteably the answers by the jws to my questions were of the religious beliefs, not by me. After the meeting, no one went to them with any comments or questions, they packed up their pictures and left........i need a drink! FYI I have not been on the boards for a long time and when I signed in I put meljon which i use on travel and cruise boards. I forgot that I signed on as GLADDY. So I am now gladdy meljon........... As a best friend of a now ex-jw (who waited patiently for 20+ years for her to leave the group!,) I don't feel I can put together a letter of opposition properly to bring to the town meeting....... any takers ?
