McCain's national finance co-chair resigns
By JIM KUHNHENN – 2 hours ago
WASHINGTON (AP) — John McCain's national finance co-chairman has stepped down, the latest casualty of a presidential campaign eager to cauterize damage caused by its ties to lobbyists.
Former Texas Rep. Thomas G. Loeffler, one of McCain's key fundraisers, resigned in the wake of a new McCain policy on conflicts of interest that required campaign volunteers to disclose their lobbying connections

Ron Paul Revolution Still Very Much Alive ... lol at REPUBLICRATS
by What-A-Coincidence inhttp://articles.mercola.com/sites/articles/archive/2008/05/17/ron-paul-revolution-still-very-much-alive.aspx?source=nl.
ron paul is still in the race and gaining support from delegates every day.
he came in second in pennsylvania, but amazingly, after ron paul supporters managed to get a rule changed, which positions them for more national convention delegate slots than previously expected, the nevada gop abruptly cancelled their own state convention and left.. people who had traveled from near and far, and had spent 10 hours at the convention, were prevented from casting their votes.. "after a super-majority of ron paul supporters captured control of the republican state convention saturday, state party officials abruptly canceled the event without electing delegates to the national convention," reported the reno gazette journal.

Cheney Spends Vacation Clubbing Baby Seals
Miramichi, New Brunswick - Vice President Cheney, while vacationing in the picturesque Canadian community of Miramichi, decided he could use some relaxing recreation so he joined a group of local hunters on a outing to harvest the pelts of baby seals.
Using a club bearing the vice presidential seal, Cheney took to the task with relish and, in the course of the afternoon, personally clubbed to death 14 baby seals. In one particularly impressive display of clubbing skill, the vice president, with a single swing of his club, dispatched a mother harp seal that was attempting to protect her young pup. Then, with another swing of his club, he knocked the pup unconscious whereupon its pelt was removed.
Obviously pleased with his performance, a blood-stained Cheney joined the other hunters in the time-honored tradition of eating the liver of their prey as a sign of their prowess. Said Cheney, "Eating raw liver from a freshly clubbed baby seal whose heart is still beating is one of the greatest joys in the world. It just doesn't get any better than this."
The vice president is planning to turn this into an annual event and next year will take his wife and daughters along so they can make it a family affair.

by FreedomFrog ini'm a person that it takes a while to learn...or to become close enough to consider "close" or "best" friends.
i've been going out to occasional parties, coffee, barnes and noble places and have been around this wonderful lady.
we've been invited to several places at the same party and tonight we realized that we both have many things in common.

A REASON, A SEASON, OR A LIFETIME
People come into your life for a reason, a season or a lifetime.
When you know what it is, you will know what to do for that person.
When someone is in your life for a reason, it is usually to meet a need you have expressed. They have come to assist you through a difficulty, to provide you with guidance and support. to aid you physically, emotionally or spiritually. They may seem like a godsend and they are.
They are there for a reason you need them to be. Then, without wrongdoing on your part or at an inconvenient time, this person will say or do something to bring this relationship to an end. Sometimes they die. Sometimes they walk away. Sometimes they act up and force you to take a stand. What we must realize is that our need has been met. our desire fulfilled, their work done. The prayer you sent up was answered and now it is time to move on.
Some people come into your life for a season, because your time has come to share, grow or learn. They bring you an experience of peace, or make you laugh. They may teach you something you have never done. They usually give you an unbelievable amount of joy. Believe it. It is real, but only for a season.
Lifetime relationships teach you lifetime lessons, things you must build upon in order to have a solid emotional foundation. Your job is to accept the lesson, love the person and put what you have learned to use in all other relationships and areas of your life. It is said that love is blind but friendship is clairvoyant.
Thank you for being part of my life, whether for a reason, a season or a lifetime. -

Something Very Important happened in 1914
by Outaservice inyes, in 1914 president woodrow wilson declared that the 2nd sunday in may each year was to be an honor of mothers, and so we celebrate 'mother's day'!
what could be more important than that?.
the bible admonishes us to 'honor our father and mother' even if...................in some cases they do not deserve any honor!
-
freydi
It's another day obligating you to spend money. No thanks. My mother was an alcoholic. Do/did I owe her honor today and on her birthday and on grandparents day? And what makes you futile excuses for parents think that there should be a day in honor of your futility when you were only doing what you were supposed to do?

Our CO gave a talk to kids. Stay OUT of school!
by easyreader1970 inhe wanted to talk to the young ones in the congregation.
the main theme of the talk had to do with avoiding higher education.
basically the main idea was this: witnesses are losing alot of young people here in the last few years.

I wonder what a talk would sound like using the same logic having to do with eating food.
AVOIDING ADDICTIVE FOOD
"We all know that going to the grocery store can lead to unhealthy habits and unnecessary association with worldly minded people who do not appreciate Jehovah's principles when it comes to gluttony which is promoted everywhere in the aisles of worldly grocery stores along with materialism at the larger chains. The thing to do is to be like Noah who planted his own vineyard. For those who live in apartments one can grow much food in what's called "container gardening." By being thrifty you can perhaps become a healthier one income family, thus making more time available for declaring the good news in field service. And there's the added benefit of learning more about Jehovah's herbal creations that will make you self-sufficient when the grocery store shelves become empty when Jehovah destroys all the non-witnesses during Armageddon." -

Is WTS chronology flawed?
by cultswatter inhistorians agree that jerusalem was invaded by babylon in 586/587bce.
the wts discredits most historical records and says that jerusalem was invaded in 607bce.
the wts start with 587 and add the 70 years that jerusalem lay desolate to obtain the 607 date.. if jerusalem was invaded in 587 then it lay desolate for only 50 years (587-537=50).

There has always been an open conspiracy to label people who possess truth.
"In reality, an "apostate" is just a former member of the Watchtower religion, one who now disagrees with the teachings of the Watchtower Society. While I had pondered many times why these persons were to be feared and hated so, why they warranted such slander on the part of the Society, how their "lies" and "poison" could be so potent as to deceive us who had "the truth", I now realized the simple answer. The so-called apostates were telling the truth! They were telling the truth, and in this they had the power to bring down the entire house of cards that is the Watchtower Bible and Tract Society......Is Watchtower "truth" so weak that it can not stand up to a lie? Remind yourself that light has naught to fear from darkness; rather, it is the darkness that must flee the light."

Like I said, it's their theology that's flawed.
A Bethelite's Viewpoint On The Recent Organization Changes.
http://governingbodyletters.blogspot.com...ecent.html
To me the most obvious reason has nothing to do with control, or money. It has everything to do with the serious shortage of qualified brothers who can (or who are willing to) be used. I have been involved in the organization for 40 yrs and I have never seen the level of apathy and disillusionment among those serving in some capacity in this organization. There are three main reasons for this: 1) burnout, 2) lack of urgency/belief that the GT or armageddon is near, and 3) steady erosion of faith in the organization.
Burnout is rampant within the ranks of the servant bodies worldwide as fewer and fewer brothers are willing to serve and make the extraordinary sacrifices asked of them by the organization. Elders and servants are "stepping down" at an unprecedented rate. Finding a willing replacement has become next to impossible leaving those few loyal brothers completely overwhelmed as they struggle to handle all the congregation responsibilities which, of course, include conducting book studies and giving public talks. This has been a growing trend within the organization for some time, but it has all of the sudden become especially pronounced and is nearing crisis proportions.
The other issue is that more and more of those serving are realizing that the Armageddon may not be as close as it was once thought and any sense of urgency has waned considerably. The "generation" definition change in 1995 was the first real "alert" that something was amiss. Then you add in that the number of memorial partakers has actually increased (9,105 in 2007 compared to 9,081 in 1984), plus the recent change in the understanding of the "sealing" of the annointed (thought to have been completed in the 1930's, but apparently is not yet completed). What has happened is that in the minds of many serving, the "end" is suddenly a ways off in the distance somewhere. Less and less of those serving believe that it will happen in their lifetime and they had better do something to prepare themselves for a longer stay in this system.
Finally, more and more of those serving are wising up to the cultish ways of organization and they are no longer just accepting things and "waiting on Jehovah." In the past, the organization could successfully overcome any credibility issues due to failed prophesies or waffeling doctrines by writing a WT article or Question from Readers and it was just accepted. There was no discussion, no forum to question or examine what was printed, and of course, who had the time or the resources anyway. This is not the case now, however. The internet has changed everything. Anything about the organization can and is being discussed and not just anonymously online. These discussions are being carried back to the congregations, in field service car groups, and as a result the organization has (and continues to suffer) a tremendous loss of credibility among even those serving. The pedophile cover up and the scandalous UN association is becoming more widely known everyday. The legal and money problems of the WTBS, the blood issue, disfellowshipping, and other non-scriptural mandates of the organization are being questioned and being discussed.
The powers-that-be know that without willing elders & servants this organization is truly doomed. So, don't read into the "high price of gas" or the "we know that families are struggling and we want to add no further burden" horsesh*t explaination for these changes. And it ain't about control or money per se. Make no mistake, it's all about trying to stop the mass exodus of servants who are either burnout, disillusioned, and/or have lost the faith. Why do you think they have invited all the elders to the "pump me up" sessions in Patterson?
Expect more changes to come and soon. This is just the beginning - trust me. -

Which is worse, Adam's sin, or God's reaction to his sin?
by Dirty Rat inwhen you look at all the pain and suffering in this world, and then wonder why god decided that mankind should pay for one man's sin, with interest on top of that, it's revolting.. no way can the added pain and suffering of billions of people equal the fault that adam did.. .

Diary of a thinking to return ex-Jw
by reniaa ini thought long and hard about posting this but the mis-information on this site finally persuaded me, i already accept many may not accept what i say on face value and get their appologist pens ready for making sure no pro-witness propaganda slips through the net on this site but here goes....... i've been on this forum for a few months my first post was about how i was thinking of returning to jw's and at my sisters recommendation to look at this site for both sides of the story before taking that step.. i faded from jw's 10/11 years ago now i left my hubby at the time divorced him to going on to have more relationships and kids, i was definately given the impression after asking on this site and with what i read that if i tried to return i might face df or at least a jc but definately a couple of elders questioning me over what i've been upto these last few years - none of these have happened.
i talked with an old jw friend (yes i do have then and she never shunned me quite happily accepted an offer of coffee from me and my asking for a chat) i told her i was interested in going back and was very frank about what i done in the last 10 years but not sure how returning was done now, she quite happily said she go ask for me to find out.. result!
she came back this week and said "all i had to do was goto meetings again" and an offer of a study was there for me if i wanted it to explore the open doubts that i had expressed i now had.. not quite the fire and brimstone welcome this site led me to believe would happen.. i will keep you posted with further updates if i feel the need to put them in future.. .

That da letter imho gets to perhaps the biggest internal contradiction and fatal core flaw of the wt claim of being God's organization. To me it's anti-typical Samaria.
"If someone partakes for the first time, elders who are not anointed decide if this person should be counted! Further, no data is sent to HQ on these people, no address, and no phone number. Just a little card with a total on it. The card is a postcard. It doesn't even go in a sealed envelope before it gets mailed. It doesn't(ed.) even have to be signed by the elders. More attention is given to a notification of disfellowshipping than to this most important piece of correspondence. Further there is no two way communication (or even one way) attempted with "anointed ones" when the Circuit Overseer comes for his congregation visit. He will have meetings with the elders, the pioneers, but not with the "anointed.""
