Daily Heavenly Manna
"Fear not: for, behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy, which shall be to all people.
For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Savior, which is Christ the Lord." Luke 2:10,11
"ALTHOUGH we cannot agree that this is the proper day for celebrating the birth of our dear Redeemer, but must insist that it was about October first-- (Volume 2, p.54) nevertheless, since He did not intimate His desire that we should celebrate His birthday, it is quite immaterial upon what day that event, of so great importance to all, is celebrated. Upon this day, so generally celebrated, we may properly enough join with all whose hearts are in the attitude of love and appreciation toward God and toward the Savior. The habit of giving little remembrances one to another at this time of year seems to us specially appropriate. God is the giver of every good and perfect gift. He is continually giving and we are continually receiving from Him; but amongst all His gifts the one of greatest importance to us is the gift of His Son to be our Redeemer." Z. '03-457 R3290:4

December 25th for Christmas from Paganism?
by cabasilas ini know i've heard this a lot...that the december 25th date for christmas was borrowed from paganism.
i just came across this article which argues against that:.
http://touchstonemag.com/archives/article.php?id=16-10-012-v. personally, i have no problems with the idea that it could have been borrowed from paganism, but found this alternative explanation intriguing..

Watchtower says JW's can reach different conclusions & it's fine!!!
by Must obey! inwatchtower study article "responding to your conscience" (october 15, 2007, pages 25-29, studied december 3-9, 2007) .
dealing with, inter alia, oral sex, contained what i thought was an interesting new way of describing how jw's can form their own personal, and different, conclusions and that no one needs to be 'disturbed' by this.
i have never seen the watchtower describe it quite this way, even in relation to conscience matters like whether to attend a church wedding.

Did anyone note how the first woman, "reflects on the serious Bible command.....", whereas the
second woman "prayerfully consults" the wt. Seems like it ought to be the other way around.
The message is nobody at the wt is inspired but you should have more reverence for what's in the
the magazines than what's in the Bible. It's the same old same old. Give lip service to what the
Bible says unless it agrees with wt management. And that's why jw's are no longer Bible Students. -

So what does 60% supposed to mean? What about the other 40%? I e-mailed Tom Skilling in Chicago(WGN), with that question and he didn't answer.

RE: Christmas Memories
......"in many of us, not celebrating Christmas gets harder and harder as time goes by. I haven’t celebrated Christmas in 20 years and I don’t intend to do it anytime soon. However, deep in my heart I long to do it and I wish I didn’t know about its origins and true nature...... I feel depressed today and the Christmas season makes my day ever sadder......Why is it that we do not celebrate Jesus' birthday in October? Wasn't that day the second most important day in mankind's history? Amen"

#16 just dropped a pass. I don't think he's a millionaire though. Maybe they need to make him one.
