think that all the sane people left in America should barricade themselves in their bedrooms and pray that they are invaded by Venezuela so that life can return to normal.
Do they allow more than one square in Venezuela?
a newssource today quotes singer sheryl crow, an anti-global warming (which i applaud) activist, "i propose a limitation be put on how many squares of toilet paper can be used in any one sitting.
now, i dont want to rob any law-abiding american of his or her god-given rights, but i think we are an industrious enough people that we can make it work with only one square per restroom visit, except, of course, on those pesky occasions where 2 to 3 could be required.".
not being a woman i don't know about that -- i have my doubts.

Perhaps, due to her celebrity, she is supplied with luxury, superabsorbant squares and she just doesn't know how the rest of us live?

She's obviously not taking into consideration the inevetible, enormous spike in water and soap consumption that will result from this "one square" idea. I'm pretty sure it would be more than enough to negate any good the conservation of toilet paper would do for the environment.
for anyone who might be interested www.marrow.org is an excellent resource for more information on how to become a marrow donor and what it entails.
some people were asking on ian's thread what they could do to help, this site can help them answer that.. as an organ donor, i can tell you firsthand how amazing it is to be the one to help improve someones life so dramatically.
getting on the marrow registry is something i have considered for a long time but never acted on.

As an organ donor, I can tell you firsthand how amazing it is to be the one to help improve someones life so dramatically. Getting on the marrow registry is something I have considered for a long time but never acted on. When I read Ian's thread today I realized that someone might be waiting for me. On Monday I will be contacting the Blood Center of Wisconsin to start the process.
So, thank you Ian, for making me realize that it is time to act. I hope more than anything else that you find your donor.
although it is sometimes hard to put so many elements of a novel into a 2 hour screenplay and motion picture and you end up reading the book and then watching the movie and wish they would have included stuff they left out.
however there are sometimes when you might watch the movie and end up more impressed with the movie and grown more attached to the movie than the book.
can you think of any movies you thought were better than the book it was based on?
Somewhere in Time. The book (Bid Time Return) was good, but the movie was better.
for those that became jws but weren't born in the cult, do you feel that before baptism the dubs withheld from you information that should have been revealed, things that if you were aware of you wouldn't become a jw in the first place, such as the heartless dfing policy.
perhaps focusing on the promise of paradise earth and eternal life makes us forget to search out possible negative issues and that's part of their trickery.
Maybe it's just my own fault for not researching enough, but I had no idea about what they teach about Christ's mediatorship. I also didn't know about their disbelief in the bodily resurrection of Jesus. I think those are two major points that should be discussed pretty early in the game.
i wonder.
a very typcal witness may see the obvious negatives that jws know they have.
they might acknowledge that there's often a lack of love, that the elders can be demanding, that "new light" can change long cherished beliefs in an instant.......but still they cling on and resist any sort of intellectual discussion as to why the witnesses are off soooooo many times.....what gives??
When I was first associated with the JW's I heard a lot that in order to learn the truth a person had to be hungry, honest, and humble. In my experience JW's lack humility. They believe that they have cornered the market on truth and are unwilling to accept that they might be wrong. they are willing and able to go to great lengths in deceiving themselves and others in order to hang on to that belief that they are right. I think that the only way to reach a devout JW, or any JW for that matter, is to happen upon the one doubt that they have. And they all have at least one, you just have to find it.

brother & sister want incest legalized.
I feel sorry for their kids. Life is hard enough without that hanging over your head. Sheesh.
i love this quote and often find myself using it on the kids and my dog.
it is from cats and dogs and james earl jones doing the voice over.
"not for you young puppy, for you the war is over".

what do you think of ray(mond) franz?
i have seen here some people critisise him as not being a really heartfelt opponent of the wts, but my view is that he was quite honest about his expressed motives against the cult.
with his revelations he gave a lot of momentum to the ex jw movement (the apostate organisation according to the jws) and offered valuable assistance to those seeking to shake off the ideological and social dependance on the oppressive cult.
When I was in I often told my husband that I wished I could be fly on the wall of a governing body meeting. Ray Franz gave me that opportunity and I can't thank him enough. His book was the nail in the coffin of my faith in the WTS. It led to my complete freedom.
