This is all good stuff.
This media exposure can lead to more lawsuits.
It can also help the people who are just starting a Babble Study and the big seed pod under their bed hasn't started to bubble and froth yet.
and on and on and on...!!

new york - jehovah's witnesses are renowned for teaching that jesus is not god and that the world as we know it will soon end.

the ones i'm familiar with are from the repercussion of the rape and murder of the levites concubine.
judges 19-21 .
about 100,000 died in battle then all the towns of benjamin were put to the sword as were the people that didn't join in against the benjamites.
Later, of course, Samson knocked out a couple of supporting columns which caused the collapse of the building at a huge gathering of Philistines. Many deaths and injuries. Samsons estate, the building contractor and the architect were sued for millions.

Don't forget Samson. He slew 1000 Philistines with the "ass bone of a jaw" (a Bro. actually said this in a WT Study comment. It took several minutes to get the meeting in order.).
I think it was David that had his men go out and circumcise a huge number of dead Philistines and bring him the foreskins. He later opened a chain of fast food restaurants specializing in fried clams.
But seriously, folks...
just curious as i had never really been a true jehovah witness.
i would think that you make friends and suddenly you don't exist.
i would think a board like this is a true godsend.
The oddest, and most annoying, shunning I received was not long after I was DF'd. My wife was still in good standing at the time and a particular sister would call to talk to her. It went like this:
ring....
I answer, in my normal, masculine voice "Hello?"
..."Mary"?
"No, this is Gregor"
..."Mary?"
"Do you want to talk to Mary?"
..."Mary?"
I would then hand the phone to my wife.
After the third time this idiot called and went through this BS with me, I said "Are you deaf?" and hung up.
hey all you great people - in case you read my letter i sent to my dad the other day you may be interested in his reply.

i am so happy and relieved.
Well put, Hellrider!
Slow and easy does it.

What is poutine? Looks interesting. Bud light? Have you ever tried any real beer?
hi i'm new to this forum.
i've looked at other websites to and i see all this about the jw's, now i'm not one, i was raised a jw but made my own decision and my parents respected that.
i've read so many horror stories, but my life wasn't like that at all, as a matter of fact, when they first knocked on our door and my mother accepted a study our life changed for ever, it was for the best in many ways.
Well, Urstruly, you have certainly provoked a lot of deeply felt viewpoints on several issues! I agree with a lot of them and I also agree with a lot of what you are saying. Especially your last post (as I write this) wherein you wished us all happiness, etc. Thank you, and I wish the same to you. We all probably will be happy because that's what most healthy human beings spend their energy pursuing. As we get older we find that we may have wasted some of our most valuable resources on, shall we say, bad choices. The majority of people on this site have come to honestly feel that being involved with JW's was not a good thing for them. They have valid reasons for feeling they were misled, duped, bullied, exploited and disrespected by the Watchtower. There is nothing wrong with these people expessing these feelings especially when you realize that most of them are motivated by wanting to give a warning to others. But, if I understand what you've been saying, I have to agree with you that all of us should get on with our personal quest for 'happiness' and not let being XJW's drag us down. Most of us feel we can do both.
there have been much research lately into the biographies of ct russell and "judge" rutherford, the first and second presidents of the watchtower bible and tract society, but not so much research into the biography of the third president of the wbts, nathan homer knorr.. as there are many people still living, and who also post here at jwd, who knew nathan knorr personally, it might be worthwhile to start a thread about the life and personality of knorr.. so if anyone has any knorr stories, please post them here.
i will start off by posting some basic biographical information.. --vm44.
nathan homer knorr.
The 'cane' story is true, an uncle of mine was one of the goons, I mean ushers, that was issued a cane with a weighted tip to discourage hecklers. The hecklers would try to sit up front to cause as much disruption as possible. They would be cracked over the head and then frog marched outside where they could receive further doses of spiritual food.
well i was back on that jw board i frequent and i found another puke worthy jw experience; this time from field service.
anybody got anything to share?
i will start...for a year and half i studied with a young women and she was making slow progress but progress none the less.
When I was WT Study overseer I had to chose a Bro. to read the paragraphs after each question. Out of 45-50 eligible male pubs. there were only about 6 that could read well enough not to embarass themselves. I'll never forget the brother who refused to read the word 'breast(s)" correctly. He pronounced it "Beast(s)". 30 years later I still tell my wife she has lovely beasts. By the way, our daughter in law is beast feeding our new grandaughter.
this may have been covered already, but i missed it if it was.. a lady i work with who is catholic told me that not too long ago the new pope changed the catholic doctrine on purgatory - in that now it no longer exists.
of course i couldn't help but think "hmmmm....new light....".
my question to her was "well, do all the people that paid to get their loved ones out of purgatory get a refund?".
CORRECTION
Whoops. Limbo has been done away with. Apparently it is NOT the same as purgatory. My mistake. Sorry.
I've learned to fess up when I'm wrong, just like the WT Society!
