Will there be a time when NO ONE will be able to become a JW anymore?
by JH in.
the witnesses always said that at some point in time, it will be too late to join, the doors will be closed.. do you believe that will happen, or is it just to scare the witnesses?
and what would trigger the watchtower to decide, it's too late?

As others have pointed out, we were always taught that just before the end the message would change from "last chance" to "too late". We would be like Jeremiah delivering a message of doom. I kind of looked forward to that. Seemed like it would be a lot more fun than trying to talk some asshole in a big house with a Cadillac in the driveway into a free home Bible study. Just ring the bell and say "You're toast, M----r F----r, and don't start pleading! It's too damn late!" (All the while checking out his crib you might want for yourself after the big A.)
But, seriously. I can't see the WT telling everyone the door has been shut and sealed. That would be slow suicide for the Org.

Gregor—A Poster You Should Get to Know
by AuldSoul ini just had a very enjoyable, insightful conversation with gregor, "the kool-aid man".
i learned some things and shared some things, and i think we are both the better for the conversation.. i think it would do everyone a lot of good to occasionally remember that on this forum, due to the limitations of the medium, we can really only see a weird sort of 2-dimensional person (sometimes only a 1-dimensional person) through the posts we read.
i just wanted to let everyone know i am glad i am getting to know gregor.

AuldSoul, I enjoyed our chat this morning also. You seem like a helluva good guy. I didn't know it would lead to a starring role in a topic! But I'll get used to it. Next thing you know I'll be punching out the paparazzi! (autographs available on request).
The aposhtafesht (they drink a lot in Norway) would be fantastic! Probably can't make it but we'll will keep it in mind.
I should start a topic on a mini-fest in Portland. Seems like a lot of folks from around here. You may be hearing about the horrific fighter jet crash this afternoon at the annual airshow. We saw the smoke from several miles away.

Jamestown California Congregation
by Stephanus ini saw a documentary on discovery channel about treasure hunting; there was a segment about gold still being findable by traditional methods in woods creek at jamestown.
it piqued my interest, so i've done a bit of internet research on it.
not only is the area famous for its gold, and for legendary figures like mark twain, grizzly adams and the cannonball from petticoat junction, this one and a half horse town boasts a kingdom hall!.

Nice little town. I was involved in the Jamestown Hotel restoration project many years ago. Jamestown, Sonora, Angels Camp, and the little movie set town of Columbia City are all within a few minutes drive of each other in the Sierra foothills. Lots of movies made around there using the towns and the vintage railroad. We once helped set up a field commissary for the Back to the Future sequel that took place in the old west. I was called on to give a few Sunday talks at the Kingdom Hall because I lived close by.

i had to stop for minute.
i started to reflect a little and realized that i have alot of his mannerisms.

Just so you don't start sounding like your avatar. As I recall Bill Murray in Caddyshack he talked with his lower lip drooping off to one side.

Anyone here trying Byetta? New Diabetic Medicine from GIla monster spit.
by Wasanelder Once ini'm going to ask my doctor for byetta on monday.
my sugar has been running in the high 300's and i fear i am crashing.
the oral meds don't do it anymore and i need to lose weight.
-
Gregor
I've never heard of that drug, but it is a well known fact that the Gila monster lizards bite is considered poisonous simply because they have so many germs in their filthy mouths. I wonder if the rapid weight loss is caused by severe diarrhea? I don't think this would be a very safe way to lose weight, like drinking ditch water in Tijuana. Anyway, good luck.

It is 6:30 pm here on the West Coast of the US. But don't fret in just a few hours, probably sometime tomorrow morning I'll be back. Posting my irritating wacky stuff, as well as my occasional thoughtful, insightful stuff. Sometimes it just feels good to say goodbye, even when your just taking out the garbage and will be right back.
Love to all
