Interesting scenario. I think most of us on here have imagined (hoped) that the WTS might be brought to its knees through exposure of its lies and members disillusionment with failed predictions. But how would these things actually play out? Could it be as simple as plain old cash flow? Makes sense.

If it were the truth it would be engraved in stone. How many trees have been sacrificed to replace old truth with new truth? It is insanity!
Like to hear their justification for the toll in suffering that the Bethel layoffs are causing. Automation? They sound like GM trying to bump up the bottom line by laying off hundreds just before Christmas.

I think you left off one perk that is one of the most important motivators for GB members - That is the celebrity status they enjoy among their peers. Getting their asses kissed by the JW proletariat, those star struck elders, CO's and DO's who look at you with expressions of awe on their faces. Having every word you utter in these encounters be cherished and treasured and repeated for years to come.
To some degree, I think this weakness for authority effects a lot of JW males all the way down to a lowly MS. But of course, rank and file Elders don't have the power of life and death that a GB member does.

I'm also a newspaper junkie. Even though it's not good for my bloodpressure I read the lefty Oregonian every morning with my coffee. Then shortly before noon I go to the post office and pick up my mail and Wall Street Journal. I'm not into investing but it is a damn good newspaper.
Mags - The Week, The Economist, Newsweek, Popular Mechanics, Smithsonian, Scientific American, Sunset, This Old House, Cooks Illustrated, Big Jugs.
Books - biographies, history, current events, novels, mysteries and police (Michael Connelly)

Thank you Jehovah for answered prayers
by Annie Over inwhen i got off for lunch today i decided to go to the walmart deli and get something to eat.
it is a huge store, groceries, a bakery, mc donalds, a bank , eye center, beauty shop, a great deli, and a huge garden center.
i had taken back a 80 gig hard drive dvd recorder ( i couldn't figure out how to hook up <smile> and had received 238.00. i picked up a couple of things in the store then went to the deli.

It's Big Tex! saying I think one can be happy for someone without passing judgment on their religious beliefs. For all I know she might be right.
So you are saying that big J, whilst pouring over his 'in' box of instant messages saw this plea from Annie who had left her purse containing the cash from her refund on a DVD player(?) setting in a shopping cart. Big J then kept an eye on the purse until she could get back and retrieve it. Possibly, some poor SOB may have seen the purse setting there unattended and Big J had to blind their brain for a split second, whatever, but HE made sure that purse was there. Considering the wear and tear on Annies nerves wouldn't it have been better if Big J had just sent her a little IM to the effect "are you forgetting anything?" just before she got in the car and drove away? etc etc etc etc etc etc etc
This kind of silly, "answered prayer" shite makes my ass want a dip of snuff. And If somebody gets their feelings hurt because I don't take it seriously then call the cops and have me arrested. Otherwise, Futt the shuck up.

Anxiety symptoms
by Silvia Plath inever since i stopped my study i have gotten completely depressed, unable to sleep, i really depended on my study group to keep me sane and give me purpose but now my bi-polar symptoms have come back with a vengeance.
i thought about going to another church because ruminuating on a creator did help me sleep at night and now i have not slept for four days.
i never realized how much i was becoming dependent on the religious structure.

You know that sleeplessness is a sign of a manic episode. This means you may do something with long lasting consequences that you will have to deal with after you get your swing stabilized. As others have advised here, get to a doctor or clinic ASAP

Nearly Lost my Son Yesterday

when i got to the er, he was lying there in the bed.
he was bruised & scratched.
