About an hour ago I was awakened by a noise at the front door. I went to investigate. The door is of the glass pane type. I flipped on the porchlight and there, staring back at me was Baby the cat sitting on the doormat.

She was proudly displaying a large vole. Unfortunately, the vole was still alive but was injured severely. I knew Baby was not seeking medical aid for her fellow creature and that if I ignored the situation there would be a nasty mess to deal with later. By the time I got my slippers and a heavy leather glove the vole had pretty much passed into the nether world. I picked it up and disposed of it by tossing it into the nearby stand of trees.

Now I am wondering if I will have to deal with the poor creature again when daylight comes. Baby may be assuming we are playing 'fetch'.

i have always struggled to understand what prayers god answers and which ones he avoids.

most religions teach that god answers prayers, so people must feel that their prayers are being answered, yet the type of prayers seem to be very selective.. .

if god answered broad based prayers, then children in third world countries would not be starving, so he does not seem to interfere in global issues.

Seriously, genuinely helpful "prayer" is nothing more than honest, positive 'self talk'. It's good to have a bare knuckles conversation with yourself when you know what's right and wrong. Ego, face saving and pride can be dropped from your mind and then all you have to do is listen to yourself.

jwfacts - Your thread has left be completely drained of hope. My spirituality is a shambles. I will never get any tingle of anticipation when I buy a lotto ticket. When something bad happens I will just have to suck it up and deal with it in the raw.

mouthy was out before i was and a handfull of others.. but this year marked 25 out for me as opposed to 22 years in.
