i got so mad listening that i truly cannot do it while i drive.
it is worse then talking on a cell phone as it just makes my blood boil.. the study article on page 24 and 25 is talking about satan and the demons.

I was setting at my desk when one of my employees came into my office looking stricken. She had tears in her eyes and said "The Challenger just exploded". She had a radio at her workstation and was listening to the launch. I was stunned. I said "Oh, my God! The schoolteacher?" She nodded and broke into sobs. A minute later my wife called from home, she had been watching it on TV and had seen the live picture of Christa's parents as they witnessed the thing blow up. Horrible.

A Beloved and Compassionate Elder Trapped in a Cult Just Died , What should I do?
by TastingFreedom ini just heard the sad news that a very loving and kind elder for the congregation that i belonged to for 15 years just died from a heart attack.
he was someone that i had great admiration and deep respect for, even now that i'm out from the jws.
he was my mentor and an inspiration to me as an elder, and in many ways he showed me the contradictions of the wts, he was a breath of fresh air within a cult.

Out of respect for the feelings you had for him I suggest you attend, sit quietly near the back and make the best of the JW info-mercial funeral talk.
He sounds like a hell of a guy. Pay your respects, even if this can only be done within your own heart. He would probably be pleased that you cared.

I guess this is our evening to disagree. Here at JWN we hear about a lot of JW's who are decent, intelligent and sensible folks. But they are caught up in situations that prevent them from taking a stand without sacrifices. Only they can judge the cost of withdrawing.
Yet another reason I HATE the JW scheme.

Your putting the subject into the framework of conflict between the religious/non religious is irrelevant to why DP has been banned. Your final comment needs clarification. Did you write DP's offending comments?

It seems the dictionary definition of "hate" that I posted above needs to be fleshed out.
Apparently, many posters have a mental concept of hate as a corrosive acid flowing through the 'hater's" system, eating them up with negative energy and making them bitter. This is not the way I see the appropriate function of the "hate" emotion in a mature, rational person. Without developing a clear and balanced set of values, both 'hate' and 'love' become meaningless buzz words in the lexicon we use to express ourselves.
JeffT - I read all your posts with my full attention and I find them always thoughtful and worthwhile. But for the life of me I cannot agree with (or even grasp) your quote below.
In order to hate some one or something you have to elevate them to your own social status (I can't remember who said that, I think it was Robert A. Heinlein). The R&F are deluded sheep. Everyone above that in the organization is either stupid or lying. Neither group qualifies as my equal.

You're goddam right I hate the religion. Too much up close and personal experiences not to. I also hate some of the Watchtower nazis who thrive on the cult power trip. I don't hate the majority of the rank and file people caught up in it, in fact, I feel compassion for them.
It may feel very wise and cool to say you don't "hate". That is namby-pamby bullshit. "But because you are neither hot nor cold...etc"
